Manchester United are now keen to sell Anthony Martial and are actively seeking potential suitors for the January transfer window.
United still have plenty of wheeling to do in order to make this squad Erik ten Hag can call his own.
We can expect to see some players move on in 2024 with Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho surely primed to leave.
There could be some other departures too, with striker Anthony Martial now being linked with a move away…
Manchester United reportedly seeking Anthony Martial buyer
TalkSPORT now claim that United are ready to sell Martial when the January transfer window opens.
It’s stated that United are ‘actively looking’ for ways to sell Martial with his contract expiring next summer.
United seemingly don’t want to see Martial leave for nothing but also don’t want to extend his contract.
There is a one-year option in Martial’s contract, meaning United can keep him until the summer of 2025.
That doesn’t appear to be in the plans right now though and United are now attempting to sell Martial well in advance of the January window opening.
Erik ten Hag has really backed Martial
Rumours of Martial potentially being up for sale seem a little strange given that United boss Ten Hag has been very positive about the Frenchman this season.
Martial wasn’t all that impressive against Arsenal and yet Ten Hag praised him for a ‘very good performance’, to the surprise of many fans.
Ten Hag then defended the decision to bring Martial on for Rasmus Hojlund against Brighton and Hove Albion, predicting a big impact from him this season once up to speed with his fitness.
The Dutchman also hailed Martial for a ‘brilliant’ finish against Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup, meaning the praise has been fairly regular this season.
To hear that United are now actively trying to sell Martial is somewhat surprising, but maybe his contract situation is overriding any personal thoughts from Ten Hag.
