Manchester United reportedly have an interest in AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez, and this is reportedly ‘worrying’ the Italian giants.
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are keen on the French left-back, formerly of Real Madrid, in what would be a surprising move.
The AC Milan left-back has been a star for the Italian side since joining in 2019, and it is possible next summer could be the right moment for the Frenchman to move on from the San Siro.
According to the report, Hernandez is destined to start for France in Euro 2024 and may well attract attention, with two clubs in particular vying for his signature.
United’s interest
United and French giants Paris Saint Germain are the two clubs that are the most interested in the exciting left-back. The Red Devils cannot be ruled out as they seemingly held an interest in the Frenchman last summer.
However, when United and PSG enquired over the Frenchman in the summer just gone, they were told that it wasn’t going to happen. This was mainly due to Sandro Tonali being sold to Newcastle United in and the decision-makers at the Italian giants were unwilling to lose two key players in the same window.
However, next summer may well be a different story for the Italian side.
United’s ambitious target
The report, however, does go on to say that the deal would be an ambitious one but the Red Devils can’t be ruled out due to the new influx of cash they are about to receive from Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s impending minority purchase of the club.
United, despite having Luke Shaw as first choice option, can seemingly never rely on the former Southampton left-back as his injury issues continue to rule him out for Ten Hag’s side. Tyrell Malacia has lost his own momentum from his first season.
Hernandez, who scored four goals and provided three assists in Serie A last season, would be a monumental signing for the Red Devils.
However, with Hernandez’ brother Lucas playing for the French giants, it seems more likely that the left-back will end up in Paris rather than Manchester.
