Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has been criticised for his performance in Brazil’s defeat against Uruguay.
The international break is coming to an end and United players will be heading back to Manchester ahead of the Premier League’s return.

Casemiro criticised after Brazil defeat to Uruguay
Brazil faced Uruguay in Montevideo with Casemiro taking on United teammate Facundo Pellistri in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
This proved to be a difficult night for Brazil as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Darwin Nunez and River Plate’s Nicolas de la Cruz were on the scoresheet, condemning Fernando Diniz to a dismal defeat.
The inquest has started over in Brazil and Casemiro certainly hasn’t escaped criticism.
Globo Esporte rated Casemiro at just four out of 10, with the Brazilian public going even lower at just 2.5 out of 10.
The Brazilian TV channel noted that Casemiro was ‘exposed’ defensively as he attempted to play in Diniz’s 4-2-4 system.
Globo Esporte added that Casemiro committed ‘unusual technical errors’ on the ball and criticised him for failing to stop either of Uruguay’s goals.
Casemiro display comes amid Sir Jim Ratcliffe revelation
Casemiro just hasn’t been at his best this season and last night’s performance just summed up a player short of his top form.
The display also came amid claims from The Guardian that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has questioned United’s decision to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid in 2022.
Ratcliffe – who is set to purchase 25% of United – visited the club in March and questioned the club’s recruitment record in recent years.
Ratcliffe is thought to have highlighted the big money committed to signing Casemiro, having forked out £60million and a four-year contract worth around £350,000-a-week.
That kind of outlay for a player in his 30’s just isn’t in Ratcliffe’s plans and he would seemingly want to go in another direction at United.
It’s easy to forget that Casemiro was superb for most of last season and we can’t just forget about that after a slow start this term.
Still, Casemiro needs to get back to his best soon, or his position with both club and country will come under increasing scrutiny.
