Kobbie Mainoo asked how he made it at Man Utd, his elite response proved why he fulfilled his destiny

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has revealed the “one tip” he followed and how it helped him reach the big time at the Premier League club.

Kobbie Mainoo has had a sensational campaign with Manchester United and become a key figure in the heart of midfield for manager Erik ten Hag.

The 18-year-old Stockport-born midfielder was part of United’s pre-season last summer and Ten Hag had big plans for the youngster this season.

However, Mainoo missed the beginning of United’s season due to injury before making his stunning return, with the Red Devils star since impressing for his side.

The England Under-19s international made his first Premier League start last November and produced a superb display in the 3-0 away win at Everton.

Mainoo also scored for the first time for United’s senior team last month in his side’s 4-2 away win over Newport County in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The United star found the back of the net for the first time in the Premier League on Thursday, with Mainoo scoring the winner in the 4-3 victory against Wolves.

United star Mainoo shares top tip

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is among those who have raved about Kobbie Mainoo, making a comparison with AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf.

Rising Ballers reached out to Mainoo and asked the United midfielder how he made it in football and the one top tip he could share with their followers.

Posting the Instagram DM exchange on LinkedIn, Rising Ballers wrote in the message: “Yooo bro, can you give our followers one tip you used to make it?”

Mainoo showed exactly why he was destined to make it at United with his response, with the youngster saying he closely observed senior players for tips to pick up.

“Watch senior players closely and pick things up from [their] game,” he responded.

Ten Hag thrilled with Mainoo’s success

Mainoo’s emergence in the United first team has raised questions about his future on the international stage, with the player able to represent England or Ghana.

The United youth academy product has represented England at youth level, but Mainoo remains uncapped at senior level and is now being eyed up by Ghana.

The Ghana FA are tracking Mainoo’s development at Old Trafford and could try to tempt him to represent the African nation.

However, it is believed that England boss Gareth Southgate is keen on Mainoo and the United star could earn a shock call-up for the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 squad.

Ten Hag has been thrilled with Mainoo so far and spoke highly of United’s future when it comes to the talent emerging through the youth academy.

“The future for Manchester United is very bright. We have coming up some very young, talented players,” he told TNT Sports this month.

“Kobbie Mainoo is one of them, also one for instance is Garnacho, [who is] playing almost every game.

“But also, behind there is a group of players who can contribute already now, and definitely also for the future for Manchester United.”
