Manchester United are taking a look at Dante Plunkett and are now interested in signing Sheffield United talent Luke Faxon ahead of Liverpool.
United have allowed a number of young players to leave the club over the last year.
We will surely see United move for young players in the coming months but one target has already slipped through the net.
Scottish teenager Callan McKenna looked set for United but ended up picking a move to Bournemouth instead.
United are looking elsewhere and after taking Mason Cotcher on trial, United have another potential signing in mind…
Manchester United take Dante Plunkett on trial
Fans were intrigued over the weekend as United named a trialist on the bench for an Under-18 clash against Derby County.
The Daily Mail now claim that the trialist was actually former Aston Villa teenager Dante Plunkett.
Information on Plunkett is hard to come by but it’s stated that he predominantly plays as a full back.
Plunkett is now on trial with United and is trying to impress enough to earn a permanent deal at Old Trafford having left Villa.
Plunkett didn’t make it off the bench against Derby but will be looking to shine in the coming weeks.
United battling Liverpool for Sheffield United talent
The report adds that United are also showing an interest in signing Sheffield United goalkeeper Luke Faxon.
Faxon has been offered a long-term contract by the Blades but he is attracting interest from top Premier League clubs.
United are battling Arsenal and Liverpool in the race for Faxon, who seemingly faces a major dilemma over his future.
Faxon, 18, has been dubbed an ‘imposing’ figure between the sticks by Sheffield United’s official website.
As noted earlier, United recently missed out on a new goalkeeper in McKenna and could now pivot to targeting Faxon as a result – but must battle Liverpool for his services.
