‘Simple’ – Man Utd star’s immediate response after being asked to pick between two elite teams, his choice will surprise fans

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho was asked to choose between two elite European teams and he made it clear which side he preferred the most.

Alejandro Garnacho has shown moments of brilliance for Manchester United this season, including his sensational overhead kick against Everton last November.

The 19-year-old United star has also impressed with his performances this season, with Garnacho featuring on both the left wing and right wing for his side.

Garnacho, who is often deployed out on the left, produced a show-stealing display as a right winger after he scored a brace against Aston Villa in his side’s 3-2 win.

The Spain-born winger played out on the right flank for United on Sunday and scored another brace in the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford.

Garnacho has taken his goalscoring tally in the Premier League to five in 21 appearances, with the United star hinting that he has a bigger target he wants to hit.

Man Utd star Garnacho picks between two teams

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has hailed Alejandro Garnacho’s improvement this season, with the Argentina international a regular starter for his side.

Garnacho is a big admirer of Cristiano Ronaldo – having played alongside him at Old Trafford – and is teammates with Lionel Messi on the international stage.

One clip has now made the rounds on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, of a fan asking Garnacho to choose between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The fan, who is wearing a Madrid shirt, asked the Argentina winger where he stood on the two La Liga teams and Garnacho showed little hesitation with his response.

“Real Madrid, simple,” he replied.

Ronaldo, who now plays for Al Nassr, etched his name in the history books at Madrid after a prolific spell with Los Blancos following his first exit from United in 2009.

Messi, on the other hand, built a legendary career at Barcelona and shared a heated on-pitch rivalry with Ronaldo when the United legend played for Madrid.

Despite his allegiance to Ronaldo, Garnacho’s response might be surprising considering he came through the youth setup of Los Blancos’ rivals Atletico Madrid.

Ten Hag happy with Garnacho’s development

Ten Hag has been thrilled with the development of his players from the United youth academy this season, including Garnacho and teenage sensation Kobbie Mainoo.

“The future for Manchester United is very bright. We have coming up some very young, talented players,” he told TNT Sports this month.

“Kobbie Mainoo is one of them, also one for instance is Garnacho, [who is] playing almost every game.

“But also, behind there is a group of players who can contribute already now, and definitely also for the future [of] Manchester United.

“But, of course, we are a little bit impatient, also we need it on the short-term, we need results.

“[So] Mainoo, Garnacho, but also don’t forget for instance Rasmus Hojlund, also very young players.”
