"Very smart"... Cesc Fabregas likens Rasmus Hojlund to legendary 150-goal Manchester United striker

Rasmus Hojlund has really found his form for Manchester United as of late.

The Danish forward has been in simply electric form for Manchester United, having scored in his sixth consecutive match against Luton Town.

Erik ten Hag‘s £64m gamble now finally appears to be paying off. He looks to be the next legendary striker to come out of Carrington.

There have been many to grace the Old Trafford turf in the past, and former Arsenal and Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas believes Hojlund emulates a particularly prolific one for the Red Devils.

Cesc Fabregas likens Rasmus Hojlund to Ruud van Nisterooy

Speaking on the Planet Premier League podcast, Mark Chapman sat down with Cesc Fabregas, Nedum Onuoha and Statman Dave to discuss the weekend’s Premier League action.

Following Hojlund’s hot streak and two goals against the Hatters – he came up as a topic of conversation. Fabregas has been particularly impressed by him lately.

“Hojlund, exactly,” Fabregas begins. “He attacks the box really well, he’s very smart. He’s a type of [Ruud] Van Nisterooy type finisher when he gets his full confidence, I believe he can be a really top, top striker for United in the future.”

“So when you have this and a good player one-on-one [Alejandro Garnacho] making crosses all the time, you will always get the best out of him that is 100% sure.”

Ruud van Nisterooy-esque. Now that is a huge compliment. He got a whopping 150 goals in just 219 games for the Red Devils.

Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund complement each other perfectly

One of Erik ten Hag‘s inspired decisions this season has to be shifting Alejandro Garnacho to the right wing. The dazzling Argentine, alongside Hojlund, has definitely been one of Manchester United’s most dangerous attacking players this season.

The fact that Garnacho is now able to run the flank and ping balls into Hojund is also creating far more chances for the Danish striker – which is resulting in goals. Long may it continue for the duo, and Manchester United.
