19-year-old defender seizes attention of Man Utd scouts with stunning hat-trick display

Manchester United scouts in South America will have had their jaws dropped as centre-back Lautaro Di Lollo bagged a hat trick as they watched.

This summer could be an exciting one for Manchester United, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe keen to change the way the Old Trafford side operate in the market.

This comes as it is claimed that United are keen to avoid missing out on signing talented youngsters when handed the chance, with Moises Caicedo tipped as one particular example.

So with that in mind, it would make sense that scouts were present to watch Boca Juniors U20 side take on Always Ready in the U20 Copa Libertadores.

This is according to Scouts in Attendance on X, but with Aaron Anselmino not featuring, who were they watching?

It probably doesn’t matter who they went to watch as one man certainly stole all attention away with a hat trick.

Lautaro Di Lollo will have blown Manchester United scouts away

With United scouts watching on in Argentina, they’d have had their attention grabbed by Lautaro Di Lollo who is already highly regarded in his home country.

But in front of scouts from Old Trafford, who may be tasked now with brining some real exciting talents to the decision makers to avoid missing out, he shone brightly.

Di Lollo scored three in the game as he demonstrated how much of a set-piece threat he is with two from set-pieces and the other from the penalty spot.

Showing this side to his game will only come at a bonus given the defender excels in all other aspects too, definitely one which Ineos could target under the new recruitment strategy.

With Ian Wright urging United to sign two young defenders this summer, Di Lollo could be an incredible pick-up for one of these positions for cheap.

Who is Lautaro Di Lollo?

Lautaro Di Lollo is a 19-year-old Argentinan with 14 caps for the U20 national team. Born in Buenos Aires, Di Lollo is a lifetime Boca player and is currently under contract until December 2026.

He stands at 6ft 1in, the right footed centre-half is extremely mobile and is good on the ball too, as so often is the case with Argentine defenders.

The defender would be a low risk high reward signing if United were to make a move and he’d be excellent as an understudy for a potential blockbuster arrival.

One to keep an eye on.
