28-year-old Erik ten Hag sold deserves immense credit, he's transformed his career in just 2 years - opinion

Erik ten Hag came to Manchester United and was tasked with getting rid of some dead weight.

He did just that in his first season. The Dutch manager was brutal with his outgoings. The likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, James Garner and more all said goodbye to Old Trafford having not even kicked a ball under the new gaffer.

Most of these have looked like sensible decisions, however, a certain 28-year-old now is proving Manchester United wrong.

The strangest thing is – the Red Devils were ecstatic to see the back of him when he did depart.

Andreas Pereira was sold to Fulham by Erik ten Hag

Andreas Pereira finally made a permanent move away from Old Trafford to join Fulham in the summer of 2022 after four, rather unsuccessful, loan spells away with Granada, Valencia, Lazio and Flamengo.

The midfielder was always scrutinised heavily at Manchester United. Fans never really knew what he was good at. Sort of a ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’ type of player.

United fans were glad to see him leave, particularly for the fee of around £10m at the time.

Two years on, he’s in the Brazil squad against England

Fast forward two years down the line, Andreas Pereira has worked his way back in the Brazil squad and played through the pass that ended up resulting in Endrick’s tap-in to beat Gareth Southgate‘s England side at Wembley.

Not only this – Pereira is one of the first names on the team sheet for Fulham and is well-respected as a very consistent player in his position in the Premier League.

What a fantastic turnaround, in such a short space of time. He deserves immense credit.

Fair play to Andreas Pereira – he’s got his head down and proven his doubters wrong

A lot of players would have their heads in the gutters after leaving United at 26, but Pereira’s career was only just really beginning.

Despite not being around Carrington anymore, we’re really proud of how the Brazilian has turned things around. He deserves it for his attitude.

Well played, the pre-season Pirlo.
