BBC Sport pundit drops ‘interesting’ Brentford vs Man Utd scoreline prediction as ‘tricky’ claim is made

BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has revealed his bold scoreline prediction for Manchester United’s “tricky” Premier League match against Brentford on Saturday.

Manchester United were dealt a major blow to their Premier League top-four ambitions after a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City and a 2-1 loss to Fulham.

However, the Red Devils bounced back with a 2-0 win over Everton at Old Trafford, with United continuing to push for Champions League football for next season.

United boss Erik ten Hag is keen for his side to finish in the top four this season and capture the FA Cup trophy, with the Red Devils reaching the semi-finals in the cup.

The Red Devils received a major boost in momentum after they secured a sensational 4-3 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Old Trafford.

United will face Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley next month, all the while the Red Devils continue their uphill battle to finish in the top four.

Erik ten Hag’s men are sixth in the Premier League table and are six points behind fifth-place Tottenham with 10 league matches remaining.

United are also nine points behind fourth-place Aston Villa, although Unai Emery’s men have played one Premier League match more than the Red Devils.

Sutton talks ‘interesting’ Brentford vs Man Utd

Manchester United travel to the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday for their clash with Brentford, with kick-off slated for 8pm UK time.

The two sides met back in October at Old Trafford, with Scott McTominay’s heroics in injury time ensuring United’s 2-1 comeback win over Brentford.

Speaking in his column for BBC Sport, Chris Sutton admitted that the Premier League clash at the Gtech Community Stadium could be an “interesting one.”

The 51-year-old TNT Sports pundit and commentator added that Brentford have been in “terrible form at the moment,” despite United also not “exactly flying either.”

“This is an interesting one,” Sutton said.

“Brentford thumped Manchester United 4-0 in this fixture last season but the Bees are in terrible form at the moment with just one point from their past six games.

“Manchester United beat them at Old Trafford in October but only after two Scott McTominay goals in stoppage time, and they are not exactly flying either.”

Sutton’s scoreline prediction for Brentford vs Man Utd

Thomas Frank’s Brentford side have not won in the Premier League since their 2-0 win over Wolves at the Molineux in February.

Brentford have only managed one draw in their last six league matches, with Thomas Frank’s men only five points clear of the Premier League drop zone.

Speaking on Brentford’s upcoming clash against United, Sutton insisted that the Red Devils “will score” in what could be a “tricky afternoon” for United.

However, the BBC Sport pundit is far from convinced that United will walk away with all three points from the match, with Sutton backing a 2-2 scoreline prediction.

“United will score but I can still see this being another tricky afternoon for Erik ten Hag’s side, and they might have to settle for a point,” Sutton continued.
