Man Utd fans have a lot to say about Aaron Wan-Bissaka after performance vs Brentford

Manchester United fans have dropped their telling verdict on Aaron Wan-Bissaka after the Red Devils defender’s performance against Brentford on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s men travelled to the Gtech Community Stadium for their first Premier League clash since the end of the March international break.

Manchester United face an uphill battle in challenging for a top-four finish, with both Aston Villa and Tottenham vying for a Champions League spot next season.

Erik ten Hag was dealt a major blow in February after left-back Luke Shaw picked up an injury in United’s 2-1 win over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Luke Shaw is sidelined with a muscle injury and “will be out for an extended period,” with the United defender a doubt for England’s Euro 2024 campaign this summer.

Back-up left-back Tyrell Malacia is still absent from first-team action, while United prematurely ended Sergio Reguilon’s season-long loan spell back in January.

United manager Ten Hag has since been forced to turn to Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a makeshift left-back in the absence of defenders Tyrell Malacia and Shaw.

Wan-Bissaka plays at left-back for Man Utd

Aaron Wan-Bissaka started his second consecutive match at left-back against Brentford, with Manchester United teammate Diogo Dalot out on the opposite flank.

The 26-year-old United defender played fairly well in Luke Shaw’s absence during the Red Devils’ sensational 4-3 FA Cup win over Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Ten Hag has preferred Diogo Dalot, who has undergone a career resurgence under the Dutchman, at right-back over former Crystal Palace star Wan-Bissaka.

Despite Wan-Bissaka’s showing against the Reds in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Old Trafford, the United man had a shocking first-half display against Brentford.

Wan-Bissaka was out of his element at left-back and was caught out of space, with United producing a woeful display in the opening 45 minutes.

He excels in his natural role as a right-back – especially on the defensive side – but fans were shocked with Wan-Bissaka’s overall performance at left-back.

Man Utd fans react to Wan-Bissaka vs Brentford

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, vented their frustration over Wan-Bissaka’s display at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Red Devils supporters labelled the United right-back as a “liability” at left-back and said was he “terrible” on the left flank alongside teammate Marcus Rashford.

One fan wrote: “[The] Wan-Bissaka left-hand side experiment is not going as well [for] the second time due to the fact he’s getting the ball [on] his feet more rather than just defending an attacker.”

“Wan-Bissaka’s lack of awareness is a big problem,” another tweeted.

A third posted: “Wan-Bissaka keeps getting caught out of space… happened at least a hundred times and they keep attacking on his side.”

Someone else commented: “This Wan-Bissaka left-back nonsense needs to not happen again.”

“Wan-Bissaka at LB is such a liability,” a fifth said.

While a sixth wrote: “Why have Wan-Bissaka play on the left flank, yet he’s predominantly a right-sided defender and yet you’ve got Dalot that plays much more comfortably on that left flank?”

And a seventh added: “Wan-Bissaka and Rashford have been terrible on that wing.”
