Dream Manchester United line-up for the 2024/25 season, including £87m star among three new signings - opinion

This summer could see a huge shake-up at Old Trafford, here’s our dream Manchester United line-up for next season.

It’s a new era at Manchester United, and the decision-makers will be keen to stamp their authority on this team come the summer.

Several outgoings and incomings could occur, with some huge names already being linked with making the move to Old Trafford.

But with it being a few months until we get any answers over who will be brought to the club, for now, we can only dream of how the side will look in September.

Here’s our dream line-up for Manchester United in 2024/24…

While going through the various positions in Erik ten Hag‘s team, it’s clear that some of the team is perfect just how it is, with injuries being a huge factor in this season’s performances.

In goal for our dream line-up is Andre Onana, who despite rocky opening Champions League games has begun to show his quality in recent months and actually sits with the league’s second-most clean sheets this season.

At right-back, Diogo Dalot has arguably been this season’s Player of the Year and there is no way he should be replaced this summer. The Portuguese star has become a fan favourite as he enjoys his most successful season to date.

The centre-half position is the priority this summer and we’d love the big incoming here to be £87m man Antonio Silva from Benfica. The 20-year-old is the perfect Raphael Varane successor and he’d be an excellent match next to Lisandro Martinez who we do expect United to sign left-footed competition for.

The left-back position could be a place United look to improve, with Luke Shaw unreliable injury-wise with over 250 games missed in his career and Harry Amass is still a few years away from first-team football. So we think United should sign a full-back in his prime – so Amass can take over in a few years. This for us should come in the form of USA’s Antonee Robinson.

We’d like to see United change to a midfield three as opposed to the two holdings we’ve seen this season, and there’s no better choice to go at the base than Joao Neves. This signing will depend on a Casemiro sale, but he’d be an incredible pick-up.

This midfield three should entail Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo as the two number eights, as there’s little chance of United upgrading on either this summer, while Mason Mount could find form and challenge the duo.

The front three is pretty self-explanatory, with both Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho being certainties as they continue to evolve into stars. The final spot could be a signing, with Marcus Rashford‘s place not guaranteed and Michael Olise heavily linked, but we see the Englishman keeping his place and reigniting his career next season. While not reflected in the starting line-up, United will also sign some competition for Hojlund.
