Ashley Young labels Man Utd man ‘catastrophic’ against Palace, Jamie Carragher called him ’embarrassing’

Manchester United had a first-half, and game to forget against Crystal Palace, which was noted by Ashley Young and Jamie Carragher.

The Red Devils found themselves 2-0 down heading into the break, after what was a spineless performance at Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace simply dominated.

Their dominance was rewarded after just 12 minutes. Manchester United-linked Michael Olise danced through the United defence to grab Palace’s first.

One man was particularly at fault for this, and the Monday Night Football pundits did not hold back on pinning the blame on him.

Ashley Young on Casemiro

Speaking on Sky Sports Monday Night Football at half-time, former Manchester United captain Ashley Young did not hold back on Casemiro for his involvement in Olise’s goal.

“Yeah. Looking at the first goal it’s crazy the way they’re set up,” Young begins. “It’s just one run from Olise, he sees the space and just goes for it. As for this now [Casemiro diving in], it’s shambolic. I don’t know what he’s thinking and what he’s doing. He literally just walks past him, it’s so easy.”

Jamie Carragher on Casemiro

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was inclined to agree with Young. He certainly did not hold back on the five-times Champions League winner either.

“Listen, he’s playing out of position tonight, this has got nothing to do with playing out of position,” Carragher states as the Olise goal plays.

“That could be in a holding midfield role. It’s embarrassing they need to bring him off. Nothing can be worse than Casemiro playing this second half, put [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka there and take him off.”

Casemiro with a shocker…

The Brazilian did have one of his worst games in a Manchester United jersey, and to be fair, the criticism is probably warranted.

The sad thing is – this may also be one of his last performances in a United shirt. Casemiro simply must be sold in the summer. Thanks for the memories Case, but it’s over at Old Trafford.
