A number of Manchester United players are in international action this summer but one star is heading home after elimination.
The summer transfer window will soon start taking all of the attention, but it’s all about Euro 2024 and Copa America right now.
Manchester United have a number of players in action this summer with Kobbie Mainoo lining up for England against Slovakia.
One strange quirk is that only two players – Peter Schmeichel and Fabien Barthez – have ever won the European Championships whilst being on the Manchester United books.
Over at Copa America, Lisandro Martinez and Alejandro Garnacho are attempting to bring more glory to Argentina.
Not everybody can go all the way though and two United players were dumped out of Euro 2024 on Saturday night.
Rasmus Hojlund reacts to Euro 2024 exit
Denmark were always likely to be up against it as they faced Euro 2024 hosts Germany in the last 16.
Germany did end up winning 2-0 but only after controversial circumstances with the Danes having a goal ruled out for offside and then conceding a penalty.
Denmark did have their chances too and two of them fell to Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund.
The first was a powerful effort into the side-netting and the second was an attempted dink over Manuel Neuer, which was saved by the German stopper.
Those missed chances came back to haunt Denmark as they ended up losing to the hosts, leaving Hojlund and Christian Eriksen crashing out.
Hojlund took to Instagram to react to the defeat, sharing an emotional message.
Hojlund noted that he wasn’t sure what to expect from the European Championships despite having watched so many Denmark campaigns as a fan.
The United striker added that he actually felt ‘a bit guilty’ upon Denmark’s exit, but ultimately felt major pride as he represented his country at his first major tournament.
“To be honest I didn’t really know what to expect from my first Euros. Supporting Denmark during a tournament was always one of the highlights as a Dane, playing for Denmark was indescribable. I was so eager, and wanted so badly to make our country proud. I texted one of my friends that I felt a bit guilty. It’s a weird sentimental mix, because there’s also pride. Obviously we wanted to bring the cup home, but the thing that will always bring me pride, both as a footballer and a Dane: we are red we are white. We stand together, side by side,” he added.

Manchester United target Mohammed Kudus sends message to Hojlund
United fans flocked to send messages of support to Hojlund and there was even a message from West Ham United ace Mohammed Kudus.
The Ghanaian send three praying emojis to Hojlund, showing his support for the United hitman.
Hojlund will no doubt appreciate that and some United fans were left begging for Kudus to join the Dane at Old Trafford.
Reports in June suggested that United are keen to bring Kudus to the club, although West Ham would command a hefty price tag.
This is one deal we can’t really see coming off, despite Kudus previously featuring under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.
The idea of Hojlund and Kudus linking up in United shirts is certainly an exciting one, but it would take a huge outlay to make that a reality.
