'I'll leave' - Kobbie Mainoo asked about creating own signature celebration, Man Utd star singles out teammate in 11-word response

Manchester United and England star Kobbie Mainoo hilariously made his stance perfectly clear on creating a unique celebration ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Kobbie Mainoo enjoyed a remarkable breakout season at Old Trafford in the 2023-24 campaign and made his mark in the Manchester United first team.

The 19-year-old Stockport-born player started in all 24 Premier League appearances he made last season, with Mainoo scoring three times for the Red Devils.

Mainoo missed the opening of United’s 2023-24 campaign due to an injury he picked up in pre-season, but he later returned and established himself as a key player.

The United midfielder’s success at Old Trafford last season earned him his senior England call-up during the March international break.

Mainoo singles out Man Utd star

Kobbie Mainoo has missed Manchester United’s first three pre-season matches this summer after taking an extended break due to Euro 2024 in Germany.

The United star played a starring role for England at the tournament, with the Three Lions falling short to Spain in the final of this summer’s Euros.

However, Mainoo has been spotted in the States and the England international impressed with his skills during a street football match in sunny Los Angeles.

During an appearance on the United View YouTube channel, the United midfielder was provided a potential celebration for next season by one young fan.

However, Mainoo respectfully passed up the celebration idea and suggested that Alejandro Garnacho would be better suited to do it instead of him.

“I’ll leave the celebrations to Garnacho, he likes a little celebration,” he said.

Mainoo on England and Euro 2024

Mainoo was initially overlooked by former England manager Gareth Southgate in the early stages of Euro 2024 before becoming a linchpin figure in the knockout rounds.

The Three Lions star was partnered alongside Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and impressed for England during the Euro 2024 campaign in Germany.

Gareth Southgate stepped down from his role as England head coach after he failed to lead the Three Lions to the Henri Delaunay trophy at this summer’s Euros.

Speaking on Euro 2024, Mainoo showed his elite mentality after he was asked about how he learns from losing and how he can build on his failures with England.

“If you’re not winning, you’re learning,” he said.

“I just came off a big loss in the Euros final, but you have to work hard to make sure these opportunities come again and try and take them the next time.”
