Report: Fulham make £20m+ bid for Man Utd target, medical booked, plunging Scott McTominay future into doubt

Manchester United’s hopes of selling Scott McTominay have taken another twist, with Fulham re-thinking their plans.

Last night it emerged Fulham had re-opened talks with Manchester United over Scott McTominay.

After seeing two offers rejected, it looked like Fulham were preparing to pay up for the Manchester United midfielder.

Now Scott McTominay’s future has been plunged into further doubt amid a new twist with a double impact for Manchester United.

Fulham bid for Sander Berge

Sky Sports report Fulham have submitted an offer of £20 million plus add-ons for Burnley midfielder Sander Berge.

The Sun had previously claimed Burnley were looking for £30 million for Berge amid Manchester United’s interest.

Berge had been named as a possible target for United, via The Athletic, as an alternative to Manuel Ugarte.

The Athletic add Berge is expected to travel to Fulham for a medical over the next 24 hours, and underline that they are ‘moving on’ from Scott McTominay.

‘Manchester United do not need to sell’

If Manchester United were desperate to sign Sander Berge, the club would be able to outmuscle Fulham in the market.

Standing aside and letting Fulham complete the deal would indicate United are more focused on top target Manuel Ugarte.

The Guardian report Manchester United do not need to sell a midfielder in order to finance a deal for Ugarte.

United are pursuing the wantaway Paris Saint-Germain midfielder and are attempting to whittle the price down.

Fulham’s move for Berge instead of McTominay is a little unexpected, a spanner in the works, but it should not be too problematic for United.
