Manchester United welcomed Twente to Old Trafford on Wednesday night and the night belonged to Marcus Rashford.
On a rainy night in Manchester, the Red Devils kicked off the 2024/25 Europa League campaign with a comfortable three points.
Christian Eriksen opened the scoring for Manchester United with a sublime goal which he curled from the left side of the box into the far corner.
Twente equalised in the second half, spoiling what would have been a previously happy reunion for Erik ten Hag with his former club.
The game ended with a 1-1 draw, which will be far from ideal for Ten Hag and United with an uphill battle now faced to push on and finish in the top eight of the Europa League league phase.
Despite the disappointing result, Marcus Rashford blew fans away with his performance.

Marcus Rashford shines for Man Utd vs Twente
After all the drama surrounding Rashford being dropped against Crystal Palace, he was back in the team and starting on the left wing against Eredivisie opposition.
Rashford gave the Twente right-back Bart van Rooij an absolute schooling as he beat him with ease time after time – even pulling out an elastico nutmeg in the process.
The 26-year-old has looked inspired ever since he scored against Southampton in the Premier League as he followed it up with an excellent two-goal outing against Barnsley and now he has torn Twente to shreds.
Rashford was withdrawn 79 minutes into the game although this was not due to his performance – rather as United chased the game fresh legs were needed.
However, fans have been raving about Rashford as he continues to show he’s back on form.
Manchester United fans react to Rashford performance
As Rashford impressed against Twente, United fans were taking to X to discuss the performance of the English international.
After watching an exciting wing display from Rashford, one fan wrote: “Actually crazy what confidence does to a man, Rash was legit running into every single opposition defender in 1v1s before last week”.
“Man, I’m telling you, when Rashford is on form there isn’t a defender that can deal with him”, commented a second fan.
A third agreed: “That is Rashford’s best attribute, Confidence. He’s unplayable when he’s confident”.
“He’s actually back”, another wrote along with a crying emoji.
The nutmeg from Rashford also had fans reacting: “Rashy… he has got family”.
“Absolutely filthy that from Rashy”, added another.
The great Ronaldinho was even mentioned by one fan: “Insane skill from Rashford, Ronaldinho would be proud!”
Finally, one fan commented that Rashford is the ultimate winner of the game: “Rashford is the winner of this game regardless of what happens.”
