Former Arsenal star Theo Walcott has waxed lyrical about one Manchester United star after the player’s performance in the 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday.
Manchester United are 13th in the Premier League table and are only four points adrift from the top four after their comfortable win at Old Trafford on the weekend.
The Red Devils took the lead in the first half through Bruno Fernandes before Victor Kristiansen fumbled the ball into the back of his own net before half-time.
United ensured all three points in the second half after Alejandro Garnacho climbed off the bench and netted the Red Devils’ third of the Premier League contest.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim managerial spell came to an end after Sunday’s result, with the Dutchman picking up three wins and one draw during his reign.
The 48-year-old United legend returned to Old Trafford in the summer after he became an assistant manager to former Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.
Erik ten Hag was axed from the Premier League club earlier this month and Van Nistelrooy was installed as United interim manager until the November break.
Walcott on Man Utd talent vs Leicester City
Ruben Amorim has taken over as Manchester United manager and succeeded Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout at the start of the November international break.
Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day 2, Theo Walcott dropped major praise on Amad Diallo after the Ivorian attacker’s display against Leicester City on the weekend.
Amad Diallo returned to the starting XI under Ruud van Nistelrooy after he scored a superb brace against Greek side PAOK in the Europa League last week.
The 22-year-old United winger was lively in the first half against Leicester City and was a real threat for his side, despite not scoring at Old Trafford.
Diallo picked up an assist in the first half after producing a cheeky backheel pass to Bruno Fernandes for United’s opener against the Foxes.
“Amad has been a revelation, to be honest,” Walcott said.
“He has [had to] bide his time, great little touch, fantastic finish.”
Van Nistelrooy signing off interim spell
Van Nistelrooy’s long-term future at Old Trafford had been uncertain after United agreed to bring Ruben Amorim from Sporting CP to the Red Devils.
Amorim is expected to bring in his own coaching staff to United and is not set to retain Van Nistelrooy’s services at the Red Devils.
Van Nistelrooy received a spine-tingling reception after the Leicester City match and thanked United fans for their unwavering support of him.
“The connection is there,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“It’s what United is about. Being together and getting results. I’m proud of that and thankful to the supporters. It was [a] beautiful moment.
“To come back to the club and I’ve started working, and then doing the four games. All at home, getting some good results and some good goals.
“There are some good bits to build on. To close it down with this, it’s special. My dad was here, my son. So, it was a fantastic moment.”
