Man Utd star allegedly left teammates frustrated v Leicester City, Amorim influence may be just what he needs

Manchester United beat Leicester City 3-0 as Ruud van Nistelrooy’s stint as interim boss ended with a comfortable win at Old Trafford.

Sunday was a big day for Manchester United. Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge of his final game as United’s interim boss and went out on a high.

Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho found the net as United coasted past Leicester City with a 3-0 win.

Later on Sunday, Ruben Amorim won his final game as Sporting boss, beating Braga 4-2 after falling 2-0 down.

Amorim was appointed as United’s head coach after Erik ten Hag’s sacking and can now finally start his reign at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund leaves Manchester United teammates frustrated

Amorim will have surely played close attention to United’s performance even if his focus will have been on Sporting.

A 3-0 win is a real positive but the performance of Rasmus Hojlund may have been something of a frustration.

Hojlund was only able to take one shot, touched the ball only 23 times and was dispossessed three times.

This was a disappointing outing for the 21-year-old, who has blown hot and cold so far this season having suffered an injury in pre-season.

Fans can have their opinions but the concerning factor here is that United players seemingly weren’t impressed with Hojlund either.

iNews reporter Pete Hall took to social media to suggest that United players had noted a lack of movement from Hojlund in the final third.

United players seemingly wanted more from Hojlund but he did make a fine overlapping run to create space for an Amad Diallo chance in the first half.

Hojlund is still finding his feet after his pre-season injury and we can forgive him not being quite as his best yet.

More will be needed from Hojlund moving forward though, especially with Joshua Zirkzee yet to prove his worth as a United striker.

Hojlund will need to kick on under Ruben Amorim

Amorim now arrives at United having witnessed quality from a couple of his Scandinavian strikers at Sporting.

Danish forward Conrad Harder scored twice in Amorim’s final game, taking his tally for the season to seven goals in 18 appearances this season.

That comes as the backup to Swedish hitman Viktor Gyokeres, whose goalscoring exploits under Amorim have made him arguably the most in-demand striker in Europe.

Amorim has brought the best out of Harder and Gyokeres with Hojlund now his next Scandinavian project.

Hojlund has the talent; he has blazing speed when given a chance to run in behind but can still work on his hold-up and link-up play.

United fans want Gyokeres signed but Amorim’s first job in attack will be to develop Hojlund and attempt to turn him into the new Gyokeres.

United paid up to £64million rising to £72million for Hojlund and really need that investment to pay off moving forward.

Hojlund is still a project for United and the arrival of Amorim will hopefully see him shine as the Portuguese coach brings his magic touch with Scandinavian strikers to Old Trafford.
