Van Nistelrooy expects to leave United once Ruben Amorim takes charge on Monday morning as the club’s new head coach.
However, Amorim is set to hold crunch talks with Van Nistelrooy about his future at the club, with the Dutchman making it clear he wants to stay.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has highest win rate at Man United
With three wins in his four games in charge, Van Nistelrooy boasts a remarkable 75 percent win rate as Manchester United manager.
The only game Van Nistelrooy failed to win was the 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League.
Of course, it is an incredibly small sample size, but Van Nistelrooy now boasts the best win rate of any United manager in the club’s history.
Michael Carrick now sits second on the list with a 66 percent win rate during his time as caretaker manager. He won two of his three games in charge.
The legendary Sir Alex Ferguson had a win rate of 59.7 percent, while Jose Mourinho won 58.3 percent of his games in charge and Erik ten Hag 54.7 percent.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has impressed as interim
Ultimately, Van Nistelrooy could not have done much more to prove that he deserves to stay at United.
But that decision will come down to Amorim, who plans to bring his own coaching staff to Old Trafford.
Van Nistelrooy is adored by supporters and players at United, but that is not enough for him to force his way into Amorim’s plans.
