Manchester United started the Ruben Amorim era with a point having played out a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday.
Manchester United appointed Ruben Amorim back on November 1, but he faced a three-week wait for his first game in charge.
After finishing up with Sporting and then going through the international break, Amorim was finally ready for action on Sunday.
United made a dream start as Marcus Rashford opened the scoring, but that was about as good as it got.
United were flat for much of the game and Omari Hutchinson’s deflected equaliser handed Ipswich a share of the spoils.

Ruben Amorim spots Manchester United concern
There weren’t too many positives for United to take.
United fans were impressed with Andre Onana and Amorim praised Noussair Mazraoui’s performance in defence, but it’s clear that there is a lot of work to be done.
Amorim has only had a few days with his full United squad due to the international break, so a slightly unconvincing first performance was perhaps to be expected.
Amorim will have plenty of ideas in mind in terms of improving United and he has already seen one deficiency in this side.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle at Portman Road, Amorim noted that United should have gone on to control the game after taking such an early lead.
Amorim feels that United simply cannot do that right now with his players seemingly unable to really dominate in possession for extended periods of time.
“When you start a game like this, you score one goal, then you have to control the ball; you have to control the tempo of the game. We cannot do it at the moment,” said Amorim.
“But they tried, they really, really tried. I know for some guys, it’s hard to understand this, but they are really, really trying and they want this,” he added.
Amorim will hope for progress in home double header
Amorim knows that his methods will take some time to really set in and for his players to feel comfortable in the 3-4-3 system.
United have two home games in the coming days though with Europa League action taking centre stage on Thursday night.
Amorim will lead United out at Old Trafford for the first time as Bodo/Glimt visit before United host host Everton on Sunday afternoon.
Those two games are certainly winnable and Amorim will be looking for his players to kick on and show more personality in and out of possession with Roy Keane slamming United’s lack of goal threat.
This is a long-term project for Amorim and United but it’s clear that the new boss wants more from his players moving forward – or they may well be moved out of Old Trafford.
