Marcus Rashford has announced his ambition to leave Manchester United in 2025, ending his 20-year-plus spell at the club.
After Ruben Amorim left Marcus Rashford out of the Manchester derby, a week of rumours was sure to ensue suggesting the No.10 could exit the club.
Manchester United will have been rocked on Tuesday, by the bombshell which was Rashford stating his desire to leave Old Trafford.
This could force United into transfer action, with a Rashford replacement needed.
So with that in mind, here are five players we would like to see added and how they compare with Rashford.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
This kind of player who replaces Rashford is yet to be determined, but we think that it will be a player who is a winger, yet possesses the technical ability to play centrally.
As a player, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is as close to United legend George Best as we have seen, with his dribbling among the very best in the world.
Percentiles | Prog. carries | Dribbles |
---|---|---|
M. Rashford 24/25 | 53.2 | 38.6 |
K. Kvaratskhelia 24/25 | 99.0 | 90.0 |
Kvaratskhelia would be a huge upgrade on Rashford in terms of progressing play with the ball. However, in terms of Amorim’s team, Kvara – as he is known – may be overlooked in favour of a more natural No.10.
Kvaratskhelia is regularly linked with United, but we are not sure is is the best option for a Rashford replacement in Amorim’s team.
Mohammed Kudus
Mohammed Kudus is no stranger to United fans as Erik ten Hag chose to sign Antony over him in 2022.
This decision by Ten Hag backfired last December when Kudus tore United to shreds at the London Stadium.
This was amid his eight-goal and six assists debut campaign in the Premier League. This season has been less impressive from the Black Stars international, but we know what he is capable of and he could be available for cheap considering West Ham’s struggles.
Kudus is a more natural No.10, but is also a winger so suits the hybrid position perfectly well.
Takefusa Kubo
Another player who suits Amorim’s United much more than Rashford does currently is Japan international Takefusa Kubo.
The Real Sociedad attacking midfielder is incredibly creative, while also having the defensive work rate that Amorim demands.
- 4.82 shot-creating actions per 90 – 80th percentile
- 4.61 progressive passes per 90 – 68th percentile
- 5.76 progressive carries per 90 – 94th percentile
- 2.34 successful take-ons per 90 – 76th percentile
- 1.43 tackles per 90 – 71st percentile
- 0.49 interceptions per 90 – 65th percentile
- 1.29 blocks per 90 – 84th percentile
Kubo is a player compared with Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski and would fit perfectly into the left-sided No.10 role opposite Amad.
Matheus Cunha
The Premier League houses multiple solid options for United, with Wolves’ Matheus Cunha being one.
Cunha has been linked with United on multiple occasions and it is clear to see why as the forward has outscored Rashford over this season and last.
The sole highlight for Wolves in an otherwise dismal campaign could be available for a bargain price considering their relegation candidacy.
Jamal Musiala
Finally, arguably the very best option available, and the one Ineos must prioritise is the signing of Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala.
- 5.53 shot-creating actions per 90 – 90th percentile
- 5.38 progressive passes per 90 – 84th percentile
- 4.94 progressive carries per 90 – 81st percentile
- 3.82 successful take-ons per 90 – 98th percentile
The superstar in the making has been quietly linked with United regularly over the past few years, but now his status at Bayern Munich looks uncertain with no new contract signed.
Musiala would be a complete upgrade on Rashford in terms of suitability and also quality. It would also be a huge statement for Ineos. The one issue is it goes against Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recruitment plan.
