Man Utd fans all saying same thing about Bruno Fernandes after performance vs Nottingham Forest, there’s ‘no middle ground’

Manchester United fans have dropped a clear-cut verdict on Bruno Fernandes after the midfielder’s performance against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

Ruben Amorim oversaw his first defeat as Manchester United manager during the midweek after the Red Devils suffered a 2-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager, who arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting CP last month, faces an uphill battle in securing a top-four finish for United.

Ahead of the Nottingham Forest clash, former Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim had overseen two wins, one draw and one defeat across all competitions at United.

Forest arrived at Old Trafford on Saturday hot on the heels of a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad on Wednesday.

Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes vs Nottingham Forest

Bruno Fernandes played the full 90 minutes for Manchester United against Arsenal in the 2-0 Premier League defeat at the Emirates on Wednesday evening.

The 30-year-old has been met with criticism this season over his consistency, with Fernandes netting four times and registering nine assists in 21 matches.

Fernandes, who retained the United captaincy under Ruben Amorim, once again looked off the pace at times with his performance against Forest.

The United captain started in a more advanced position against Forest, following on from playing in the middle of the park alongside Manuel Ugarte against Arsenal.

Fernandes lost the ball in his own half only minutes into second-half kick-off and Callum Hudson-Odoi pounced on the opportunity.

Callum Hudson-Odoi then found Morgan Gibbs-White, who powered a shot straight at Andre Onana and the United star had a complete howler.

However, Fernandes redeemed himself in the 61st minute after he netted for United, with the Red Devils trailing 3-1 before the Portugal international scored.

Man Utd fans react to Fernandes’ performance

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, were left frustrated with Fernandes’ overall display against Forest.

One fan said: “Will never build a team, system or formation that’s conformable in possession until Bruno Fernandes is removed. Will Amorim do what others have been afraid to do?”

Another added: “Bruno Fernandes is either hitting wild back heels in his own half that lead to opposition goals or scoring bangers from outside the box, there’s no middle ground.”

“We’re getting the whole Bruno Fernandes experience today, LMAO,” a third tweeted.

Someone else commented: “That mistake from Bruno Fernandes is not acceptable.”

“For every moment of brilliance from Bruno Fernandes, there are countless costly mistakes,” a fifth wrote.

“I’m getting really sick and tired of Bruno Fernandes,” another posted.

And a seventh added: “I just hope this is Bruno Fernandes’ last season at the club. Thank you for all you have done, but it is time to move on!”

An eighth tweeted: “The quicker Bruno Fernandes is out of this team the faster we improve. Gives away so many transitions it’s unbelievable.”
