Bruno Fernandes has spotted a really frustrating Manchester United problem, it’s happening ‘all the time’

Manchester United’s recent upturn came to a brutal halt as Ruben Amorim suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Ruben Amorim and Manchester United fans may have felt a little encouraged in recent weeks.

United battled to results at Liverpool and Arsenal before at least showing some fight to come from behind and beat Southampton 3-1.

All of that optimism came to a crashing end on Sunday afternoon as United fell to a 3-1 home defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Yankuba Minteh opened the scoring before Bruno Fernandes hauled United level from the penalty spot.

Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter scored after the break though, handing Brighton a third straight win at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes spots Manchester United problem

This is just typical United this season; scrap a couple of results and then bring you crashing back down to earth.

Amorim still has the faith of United fans having only arrived two months ago, but he needs consistent results soon.

Amorim may still be figuring out his United squad but the home defeats are becoming a huge concern.

Captain Bruno Fernandes gave his all in this latest United defeat and has shared his thoughts with BBC Sport.

Bruno actually pointed out a problem in that his teammates are often not being confident and brave enough on the ball.

Bruno is especially concerned with how many times United are going back to goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The United skipper wants to see his teammates cope with the pressure better, believing that more personality is needed.

“We can’t concede goals so easily. We need to be more aggressive on the ball because this is the Premier League and the quality is so high,” said Bruno.

“You have to be high intensity all the time. We need to be braver on the ball in the final third and between the lines. I need to keep the ball more between the lines and then play from there.

“We can’t end up all the time with the ball at our goalkeeper like we do all the time. I believe that it’s confidence and bravery to do the right things.

“Don’t have fear of doing mistakes, that’s part of football. We have to be brave to do it again and again. It doesn’t matter how much pressure is on you or how difficult it is to play for Manchester United,” he added.

Brighton star reacts to beating United

United fans are no doubt sick of the sight of Brighton right now.

The Seagulls seem to love playing at Old Trafford and have now claimed away wins over United for three seasons in a row.

Erik ten Hag found Brighton to be tricky customers and Amorim has now experienced the very same.

Brighton ace Georginio Rutter – the man who scored the third goal as he profited on a big Onana error – commented on the win.

As quoted by BBC Sport, Rutter suggested that Old Trafford is a ‘hard place to play’ whilst praising the United fanbase.

“We are happy with three points today. It’s good fans here [at Old Trafford], it’s hard to play here but today we stayed calm and played with confidence,” he added.

Brighton stayed calm but United lacked the invention and bravery to match the Seagulls, leaving Amorim with much to consider.
