Fabrizio Romano claims Manchester United set for Chelsea transfer talks 'soon' as major exit still possible

Manchester United will need to wheel and deal in the final two weeks of the January transfer window in order to back Ruben Amorim.

More than half of the January transfer window has now passed and Manchester United are yet to get involved.

In truth, we weren’t anticipating a busy window.

United’s £100million summer net spend means funds aren’t readily available for Ruben Amorim to strengthen his squad.

United are in talks to sign Patrick Dorgu but players may need to leave in order for the Lecce star to arrive.

Antony is set for Real Betis and Tyrell Malacia looks to be exit-bound, but United may look for more departures.

Alejandro Garnacho transfer latest

One of Amorim’s biggest calls was to leave Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho out against Manchester City.

The duo are big-name players at Old Trafford but Amorim seemingly hadn’t been impressed.

Rashford remains exiled but Garnacho has been brought back into the squad and has been starting games recently.

Speculation continues to surround Garnacho though with the Argentinian potentially representing a major windfall if a sale can be found.

Fabrizio Romano now claims that Chelsea are set to hold more talks with United over a possible deal for Garnacho.

It’s suggested that Napoli are continuing to push for Garnacho’s signature after Antonio Conte spoke to the United winger on Friday.

United may well prefer to sell to a foreign club but the fact that talks with Chelsea are coming soon means that he may well be dealt to another Premier League side.

Garnacho agent at Stamford Bridge

Romano has also added that Garnacho’s agent is at Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Blues hosted Wolves on Monday night and agent Carlos Cambeiro was there just as Garnacho rumours swirl.

Cambeiro and the Leaders agency also represent United star Amad, but they may well look to move Garnacho out of the club.

Another client actually left United last summer as Maxi Oyedele departed Old Trafford for Legia Warsaw in Poland.

It’s unclear whether Cambeiro’s visit to West London has anything to do with a Garnacho deal, but his presence will certainly set tongues wagging.

It is though worth adding that fellow Leaders agent Quique de Lucas is also in attendance, with the Spaniard a former Chelsea player himself.

Perhaps they were just watching a game, but Garnacho’s future is one to keep an eye on in the final weeks of the window.
