Man Utd fans told special quality that 'perfectionist' Ruben Amorim has done to 'win over every squad' he has ever managed

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is “amazing” at understanding the mindset of his players and “knows how to motivate them” as a manager.

That is according to one of Ruben Amorim’s former players, who has revealed one important quality that the Manchester United manager has brought to every squad.

Amorim is attempting to steer — and also steady — the ship at Old Trafford after the Red Devils’ woeful 2024-25 Premier League season so far.

United languish in 13th place in the Premier League table and the Red Devils have won only seven of their 22 league matches.

The Red Devils are 10 points above the relegation zone and United are 14 points adrift from the Premier League top four.

Amorim has overseen a mixed set of results since he arrived at Old Trafford last November from Portuguese outfit Sporting CP.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager succeeded Erik ten Hag as United head coach in 2024 after the Dutchman was sacked by the Premier League club last October.

What Amorim could deliver for Man Utd

Ruben Amorim earned widespread praise for his reputation at Sporting CP after leading the club to two Primeira Liga titles as a manager.

The former Sporting CP boss has refused to pivot away from his tactical system at United and Amorim is keen to stick with his blueprint amid the mixed results.

Amorim started his management career in his native homeland with Casa Pia and Bruno Simao played under the United manager at the Portuguese club.

Bruno Simao waxed lyrical about the impact that Amorim had on him and insisted that his communication in “every training session” was “clear” and never in doubt.

The 39-year-old ex-Casa Pia man added that Amorim has maintained a “very close contact with his players” and, as a result, has won over “every squad he’s coached.”

Speaking to FourFourTwo magazine, Simao said: “He’s a perfectionist.

“Nobody plays with fear or uncertainty, wondering whether they’re doing this or that right. His communication in every training session is so clear it leaves no room for doubt.

“He’s amazing at understanding players’ minds – he knows how to motivate them, when to push, when to ease off.

“He maintains very close contact with his players – that connection is what’s helped him win over every squad he’s coached.”

Simao on playing under Man Utd boss Amorim

Amorim had a short spell with Casa Pia before he went on to manage Braga’s reserves, with the United boss later appointed the club’s senior manager.

Bruno Simao insisted that Amorim installed a “brotherhood-like connection” when he played under him and players fully bought into the manager’s philosophy.

“I’ve never been part of a team that played such beautiful football as the one he built at Casa Pia,” he added.

“The way we played was extraordinary. He creates a strong bond, a brotherhood-like connection.

“Players are willing to work for him because they know he’d give everything for them, he goes above and beyond to protect his players.”
