Former Juventus and Manchester United star Paul Pogba has ruled out one possible destination for his club future after snubbing proposals that he received.
Paul Pogba’s second spell at Old Trafford came to an end in 2022 and the 31-year-old Frenchman walked out of Manchester United as a free agent.
The 2018 World Cup winner then completed a sensational return to Juventus, having made a real name for himself at the Serie A outfit during his first spell.
However, Pogba was a shadow of his former self at the Old Lady and the former United ace’s run at the Italian club was curtailed due to injuries.
The Frenchman faced a further headache at the Turin-based side after he initially received a four-year ban in 2024 for a failed doping offence in 2023.
Pogba denied any intentional wrongdoing and the former Juventus midfielder vowed to clear his name, with the France international seeing his ban reduced last year.
The France midfielder brought his ban down to 18 months after a successful appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in 2024.
Pogba breaks silence on future
Paul Pogba’s initial four-year ban was dated back to his failed drugs test in 2023, which would have ruled out the former Manchester United player until 2027.
However, the ex-Juventus man is now eligible to play football again from March 2025 and appears to be on the hunt for his next possible destination.
Pogba’s ill-fated second spell with the Old Lady came to an end last November and the Frenchman left Juventus after his contract was terminated by mutual agreement.
The French midfielder is now a free agent and Pogba has revealed that he received interest from clubs in Russia after leaving Juventus.
However, Pogba has appeared to shut down the idea of signing for a club in Russia and the former United star has hinted at what he wants from his next team.
Speaking to French Twitch streamer Aminematue, he said (via Goal): “There are proposals, then there are interesting things, and not so interesting things… Russia, all that, there have been proposals, but that’s not the goal.
“We have other goals. A club that plays in the Champions League? Why not. If it comes, of course, why not?
“We always want to be in the best clubs. After that, it doesn’t depend on me, it depends on lots of other things.”
Pogba’s stance on failed drugs test
Pogba was provisionally suspended from playing football in September 2023 after it was discovered that he had elevated levels of testosterone in his system.
Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal (NADO) tested the player’s sample B in October 2023 and confirmed that Pogba had tested positive again after his initial test.
Pogba insisted that he accepted responsibility for failing his drugs test in 2023 and that he didn’t “triple check” the supplement that he took at the time.
Speaking to Sky Sports last October, he said: “For sure, that means I take responsibility that I took the supplement and I did not triple check, even though it came from a professional doctor.
“If I have to be punished, I am fine with it, but it should never be four years. I will accept 12 months.”
