Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has insisted that he would pull the plug on one reported transfer swap deal involving Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho.
Alejandro Garnacho’s future has been cast in uncertainty this season after Erik ten Hag was sacked as Manchester United manager and replaced by Ruben Amorim.
The 20-year-old Spain-born attacker became a key first-team player under Erik ten Hag and impressed at times under the former United manager last season.
Ruben Amorim has wasted no time shaking up United’s playing style and the Portuguese’s formation and tactical set-up has left Garnacho in uncharted territory.
Garnacho conventionally played as a winger — on either flank at times — under Ten Hag, but his role under Amorim would be as a No 10 or as a wing-back.
The United winger is under contract with the Red Devils until 2028, but the Premier League club have appeared willing to sell Garnacho if the right offer were tabled.
The sale of Garnacho, who came through the United youth academy, would benefit the club significantly due to the existing Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Garnacho linked with transfer swap
Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has attracted interest in Europe amid uncertainty around his future, including from Serie A side Napoli.
The Argentina international has made 34 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign and Garnacho has netted eight times for the Red Devils.
United are believed to be holding out for a whopping fee of around £70m before they even consider letting Garnacho leave Old Trafford in January.
Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg reported that United and Chelsea are ‘considering a swap’ involving Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku.
He wrote on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, last Friday that “no final decision” had been made between Chelsea and United over the swap deal.
However, Florian Plettenberg claimed that idea had been “discussed,” with Christopher Nkunku currently under contract with Chelsea until 2029.
Neville’s reaction to Nkunku and Garnacho swap
Speaking on NBC Sports, Gary Neville believes that Chelsea would come out a lot between from a swap deal involving Christopher Nkunku and Garnacho.
“I don’t get it for United. Nkunku’s hardly kicked a ball, he’s had the injury when he first came and struggled to get going at Chelsea,” he said.
“I’m not saying Garnacho is the best player in the world, he needs to stay at Manchester United, but if they get good money for him that might work.
“But to swap him for Nkunku, I would have to say that isn’t a move I would do if I was Manchester United.”
“I can see why you would do it if you were Chelsea.”
