Which games Diogo Dalot will miss for Manchester United after red card against Arsenal

Diogo Dalot was sent off for Manchester United despite the Red Devils advancing in the FA Cup.

Manchester United against Arsenal was a game to learn a lot from for Ruben Amorim – and also for Dalot. His carelessness in a challenge very nearly threw the game for Manchester United.

Andy Madley’s decisions were contentious, but it was hard to argue a case for Dalot to stay on the pitch in the FA Cup clash.

Now, Dalot faces suspension, so which games will the Portuguese full-back miss for Manchester United?

Which games does Diogo Dalot miss for Man Utd after red card vs Arsenal?

Dalot will only be made to serve a one-match ban for United, meaning he will miss the Premier League clash against Southampton, set to take place on Thursday the 16th of January 2025.

Why is this the case?

If a player is red-carded in an FA Cup tie, that carries over to the Premier League – or whatever domestic competition immediately follows their sending-off.

For prior example, Amad Diallo, who was given a second yellow card against Liverpool at Old Trafford in last season’s FA Cup quarter-final, missed United’s upcoming Premier League game against Brentford as opposed to their semi-final with Coventry.

This is the same case with Dalot, who will miss the clash against the Saints.

Dalot second yellow actually made no difference to suspension

Dalot would have missed the Southampton game due to the first card due to total yellows, according to MUTV, the second yellow made no difference to suspension.

Who will Amorim turn to instead? Well, Noussair Mazraoui is the obvious choice, with Tyrell Malacia filling in at left-back.

Dalot will be missed against Southampton – but the Red Devils should still get over the line without him.
