'I think' - Man Utd star makes major Ruben Amorim prediction, there's no doubt in his mind it will come true

Diogo Dalot has admitted that he is well aware of the “most difficult thing” a Manchester United fan can hear amid Ruben Amorim’s reign at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim was appointed the sixth permanent manager at Manchester United in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era at the Premier League club.

The 40-year-old United manager arrived from Sporting CP last November and succeeded former Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout.

Erik ten Hag’s reign at the Red Devils came to an end last October after a dismal start to the 2024-25 Premier League season, with the Dutchman sacked by the club.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was United assistant manager under Ten Hag, took charge of the Premier League club for four matches during an interim spell.

The 48-year-old United legend left Old Trafford last November and went on to take his current managerial role at Premier League side Leicester City.

Dalot’s prediction for Amorim at Man Utd

Ruben Amorim hasn’t backed down from playing his preferred style at Manchester United and stuck with his tactical system amid the Red Devils’ run of form.

United have found more consistent success in the FA Cup and Europa League since Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag as Red Devils head coach.

Amorim’s men are through to the fifth round of the FA Cup and the Red Devils have reached the last 16 of the Europa League this season.

However, United have struggled in the Premier League in the 2024-25 campaign and the Red Devils languish in 13th place in the league table.

The Red Devils are only 12 points clear of the relegation zone and Amorim’s side have fallen 14 points adrift from the Premier League top four.

Speaking to the Manchester United Supporters’ Clubs (MUSC), Diogo Dalot is convinced that Amorim will win a Premier League title with the Red Devils.

“If you want me to be completely honest, with this manager, I think we can win a Premier League,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“I think realistically we can win. But then it becomes the most difficult thing to hear as a fan: that it will take time.

“I understand. I’m a player but, at the same time, I know what you feel. I know that this club is thirsty to win and everybody wants to win.

“We’re not talking about cups – I know that is important, to win trophies – but what brought this club to what it is is [sic] big trophies.”

Dalot on Amorim and Premier League title challenge

United have not lifted the Premier League title since legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson captured the trophy in the 2012-13 season.

Dalot insisted that United must “adapt to the system” that Amorim has in place and “create an environment” that benefits the former Sporting CP boss at Old Trafford.

“I think we can win a Premier League with this manager, but at the same time, we need to create an environment where he has everything set for what he wants from the players,” he continued.

“We need to also adapt to the system. It will take some time.

“Obviously we cannot think too much ahead, but I’m really convinced that the way he conducts himself, the way that he communicates with players, the idea that he has… we can do it.

“Now it becomes the most difficult part, but being really honest and positive about it, I think we can win big trophies with this manager.”
