Man Utd wonderkid sends two-word message which is very exciting, he could finally return from injury

Manchester United have one of the country’s most impressive academies, yet the best footballer at Carrington is one who has barely played this season.

Shea Lacey is an academy player that many Manchester United fans will be aware of.

As a footballer, Lacey is likened to Wayne Rooney and last season under Erik ten Hag, he was tipped to step into first-team football.

Lacey is possibly the most talented prospect in United’s academy, and the only thing which has prevented his first-team rise is injuries.

The past 18 months for Lacey have been a nightmare, with constant setbacks. Lacey returned briefly in October to single-handedly almost inspire a four-goal comeback as United lost 4-3 to Spurs.

Now, having been out since October, Lacey has sent an exciting message.

Shea Lacey nearing a comeback for Manchester United

The 17-year-old talent is one fans are convinced will make it to the highest level in professional football, and despite his injury issues over the past year, Lacey still has fans believing.

Now, the Liverpool-born wonderkid has shared a message on X which is just two words, but will have fans excited.

“Not long”, Lacey wrote while also sharing an image of himself in an England kit.

This two-word message was accompanied by his Instagram story message which read: “Not long now”.

These messages quite clearly relate to Lacey hinting at return – messages we have seen before not long before he returns to action. But this time could be different, as Shea’s brother Paddy tweeted.

“Been through hell the past 14 months. Watch him fly now… proud of u little bro”.

Ruben Amorim would love Shea Lacey

Lacey is only 17 and seems to have been growing recently which may explain the increase in injuries over the past year. But if he can put this behind him Ruben Amorim could have a ready-made star.

Lacey ticks every single box required to shine in the No.10 role within Amorim’s system. Due to this, if he can remain fit, we can imagine Lacey getting his debut this season.

Lacey has the dribbling, shooting and creativity of a Phil Foden at his best and this lends itself very well to what Amorim wants behind his strikers.

A front-line of Lacey, Kobbie Mainoo and Chido Obi could be a world-beating trio one day – but for this to happen, we need Lacey to keep himself fit.

Let’s hope he is back soon, and back for good.
