Manchester United were dealt another major blow in their 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Not only did Ruben Amorim’s side miss out on the opportunity to climb up the Premier League table, Manchester United were leapfrogged by their opponents.
Crystal Palace beat United 2-0 at Old Trafford in a disappointing affair that showed United’s weakness for all to see.
Despite changes in attack, United were unable to offer anything in the final third, apart from Kobbie Mainoo hitting the post in the opening stages of the match.
Matters were made worse in the latter stages of the game when one star player were reduced to tears as he was forced off the pitch with injury.
Lisandro Martinez suffers serious injury setback
Lisandro Martinez is not a player who goes down easily.
Amorim says everyone needs to help Martinez after the centre-back was forced off on a stretcher during the defeat to Palace.
Martinez twisted awkwardly when challenging Ismalia Sarr during the second half of Sunday’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
“I think it is a serious situation,” Amorim said afterwards. “A bad situation for us and especially for Licha.
“I think we are going to see in the next days but I think it is a serious situation. It’s really hard on us, he’s not just a great player but a strong character in the dressing room. Especially in this moment, it’s hard for us.
“Now it is time for all of us to help Licha. He felt it and, when you are a player, you know when it is serious.
“Let’s hope for better days for him. We are here, like I say, to help him in this difficult moment.”
It comes as a major blow for Martinez, who missed most of last season after suffering two serious injuries.

More game time for Leny Yoro
Martinez’s injury means Leny Yoro will get more game time in the heart of United’s defence.
Yoro usually plays on the right side, but he may be the one to switch across in the coming weeks due to his versatility.
The same applies to Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt, who have both been rotated in recent weeks.
