Jadon Sancho faces more uncertainty over his future due to his struggles at Chelsea.
Reports suggest Manchester United are planning for at least 10 departures this summer to make room for Ruben Amorim to add to his squad.
The Reds are not in action until next Tuesday when they travel to take on high-flying Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
A poor season has led to calls for Ineos to make major reinforcements to United’s first-team in the transfer window, despite the club’s financial position being a concern. It doesn’t help that Ruben Amorim’s side are still positioned in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
United have several players out on loan that they will be looking to sell permanently this summer, including Antony and Marcus Rashford.

Jadon Sancho wants Borussia Dortmund transfer
Chelsea reached an agreement over a deal to sign Jadon Sancho on loan this season, and the deal has been expected to become permanent due to an obligation clause at the end of the season.
Sancho’s questionable form and lack of creativity on the pitch has led to suggestions that Chelsea will consider paying £5 million to terminate the deal.
In that case, Sancho would return to Old Trafford, where is labelled a flop after costing the club £73 million in 2021.
The United loanee hasn’t scored a goal since Chelsea’s 4-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur in December. To make matters worse, he has only registered one assist in that time.
According to German publication Bild, Sancho has expressed his desire to return to Borussia Dortmund to his management.
Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are also said to have already registered interest in signing Sancho if Chelsea make a decision not to keep the struggling winger.
The report adds that Sancho, who turns 25 today, regularly keeps contact with Dortmund starlet Jamie Gittens.
The latest reports will only add to the fears being expressed by United fans – at a time when they face season ticket price rises. It becomes a greater concern knowing Chelsea could easily pay a £5 million get-out clause.
Sancho could eye Harry Kane record with Bundesliga return
During his second stint at Borussia Dortmund, on loan for the second half of the 2023/24 campaign, Sancho beat Tony Woodcock’s record as top English goalscorer in Bundesliga history with his 40th goal.
Harry Kane has since smashed that record with 57 goals in the German top flight, despite featuring in 62 fewer games than his compatriot.
Harry Kane | 57 |
Jadon Sancho | 40 |
Tony Woodcock | 39 |
Kevin Keegan | 32 |
Jude Bellingham | 12 |
Jamie Gittens | 11 |
A third stint in the Bundesliga could give Sancho a chance at reclaiming that record, especially if Bayern Munich decide to cash in on Kane this summer.
