Marcus Rashford breaks silence after first England start since 2023, Man Utd loanee pushing to keep his place with encouraging promise

Marcus Rashford has started to enjoy playing football again since his loan move to Aston Villa.

A slow start to the season raised further questions about Marcus Rashford off the back of a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.

Rashford’s attempts to silence his critics were unheard because he remained goal-shy.

The arrival of Ruben Amorim as United’s head coach meant further doubt over Rashford’s future after the forward appeared to be frozen out of the team.

Rashford was dropped by Amorim for the Manchester derby before making the bench once more before his fate was sealed.

It became clear that Rashford wasn’t part of Amorim’s plans, so United move him on, securing a loan deal with Aston Villa until the end of the season.

Unai Emery has praised Rashford since his move to Villa Park, recording five assists, and he earned a call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad.

Marcus Rashford breaks silence after latest England appearance

The upturn in form led to Rashford being recalled to the England squad for the first time in a year.

Tuchel named Rashford in his starting line-up as England beat Albania 2-0 at Wembley. It was a World Cup qualifier which saw Miles Lewis-Skelly score on his debut for the Three Lions.

The United loanee played 74 minutes and failed to register a single shot on goal.

Rashford managed to create just one chance during his time on the pitch and he has pledged that more is to come now he’s back in the England set-up.

Taking to Instagram after England’s latest win, Rashford uploaded a series of photos from the match with the following caption: “It felt so good to be back with the boys! A solid start to the qualifiers with a lot more to come.”

In his post-match interview, Tuchel issued a demand for Rashford to produce more on the pitch but he is expected to get plenty of opportunities to impress the German coach.

What’s next for Rashford?

Rashford has pledged there is more to come from him in an England shirt.

The Three Lions are back in action on Monday night for another World Cup qualifier when they take on Latvia at Wembley.

Rashford will be hoping to earn his 62nd cap for England.

After facing Latvia, Rashford will return to Aston Villa for the remainder of the season.

Villa are 9th in the Premier League table but could still force themselves into the race for a top four finish.

They also face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals at the beginning of April.
