Former Man Utd midfield talent who left Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag is set for new club, ‘pay a significant fee…’

A former Manchester United youth academy product who left Old Trafford during Erik ten Hag’s reign is now set to make the next major move in his playing career.

Erik ten Hag is the Bayer Leverkusen manager now after he succeeded Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso at the former Bundesliga champions on 1st July.

The 55-year-old Dutchman made his long-awaited return to the dugout in 2025 after Ten Hag’s reign as Manchester United manager came to an end last October.

Ten Hag had signed a new contract with United only last summer ahead of his third season in the Old Trafford dugout after his arrival from Dutch side Ajax in 2022.

However, the former United manager oversaw a disastrous start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign and Ten Hag was dismissed from his post in 2024.

Ten Hag’s exit from Old Trafford paved the way for United to bring former Sporting CP head coach Ruben Amorim to the Premier League club last November.

Ethan Galbraith left Man Utd during Erik ten Hag’s reign and the Leyton Orient midfielder is now set for a big transfer

Ethan Galbraith came through the Manchester United youth academy and the 24-year-old midfielder had loan spells at Doncaster Rovers and Salford City.

However, the ex-Red Devils talent only managed one United first-team appearance during his time at Old Trafford ahead of his exit from the Premier League club.

Ethan Galbraith received his United debut under ex-Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after he came off the bench in the Europa League loss to Astana in 2019.

The former Doncaster Rovers and Salford City player only played two minutes against Astana, which ended in a 2-1 defeat for United at the Astana Arena.

Galbraith failed to feature under Erik ten Hag, who replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as United manager, and left the Red Devils in 2023 after his contract expired.

According to BBC Sport, the Northern Ireland international is now on the radar of Swansea City and is on the verge of leaving current side Leyton Orient this summer.

Swansea City are keen to land former Man Utd player Ethan Galbraith from Leyton Orient and could ‘spend big’ on the midfielder

Ethan Galbraith signed for Leyton Orient as a free agent in 2023 and the former United midfielder is out of contract with the League One side in 2026.

The Leyton Orient player has made 96 appearances for the club across all competitions and Galbraith has netted 11 times and has 10 assists to his name.

BBC Sport on Wednesday reported that Galbraith had travelled to Wales for his medical ahead of his move to Championship side Swansea City this summer.

The publication added that Swansea are ‘long-time admirers’ of Galbraith and tried to land the former United talent from Leyton Orient in the January transfer window.

It is believed that the Welsh-based side are ready to ‘pay a significant fee’ for Galbraith, who can be played as a full-back as well as a midfielder.

Swansea see Galbraith as mainly a midfield option and are keen to strengthen the area after Joe Allen’s retirement and Matt Grimes’ departure from the club.
