Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand didn’t think twice about interjecting after Bryan Mbeumo made a candid admission about one ‘standout’ trait in his arsenal.
Bryan Mbeumo became a Manchester United player last week and the Red Devils’ prolonged summer transfer saga over the key target finally came to an end.
United submitted two bids for Mbeumo in June alone and Brentford rejected both advances from the Red Devils for the 25-year-old French-born attacking talent.
However, the Red Devils maintained their pursuit of the Bees winger, who was linked with Tottenham, and United’s third bid for Mbeumo was accepted this month.
United’s transfer package for Mbeumo saw the Red Devils drop an initial fee of £65m for the Cameroon international and a further £6m was included in different add-ons.
Mbeumo had entered into the final 12 months of his contract at Brentford ahead of the United signing’s exit from the Gtech Community Stadium this summer.

Bryan Mbeumo asked about his three key attributes and Rio Ferdinand’s reaction to the Man Utd star says it all
Bryan Mbeumo sat down with club legend Rio Ferdinand during Manchester United’s pre-season tour this summer, with the Red Devils currently in the United States.
Ferdinand wasted no time asking the former Brentford attacker what he would bring to Ruben Amorim and the United first-team squad after his arrival at Old Trafford.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, he asked Mbeumo: “What would you say was the three attributes that are your main attributes that stand out?”
Responding to Ferdinand, the Cameroon winger said: “I would say pace.”
United legend Ferdinand immediately reacted to Mbeumo’s admission and welcomed the value that the former Bees ace would bring when it came to his pace alone.
“Which this team needs. Which is great,” he said.
Mbeumo then continued: “Yeah, pace. I would say first touch and finishing.”

Ferdinand told Mbeumo that he felt United lacked the pace element for ‘transitions’ and the ex-TNT Sports pundit wanted to see more of it in Ruben Amorim’s squad.
The 46-year-old former United and England defender was also in awe at what summer signing Mbeumo did when it came to his defensive qualities last season.
“It’s great because I’ve been shouting about someone with pace who can in transition be great,” Ferdinand added.
“But also defensively as well, I’ve seen you’re in the top four per cent of forwards in terms of tackles and interceptions and stuff.”
United will be in action on Thursday against Bournemouth at the Soldier Field, with kick-off for the Premier League Summer Series tie scheduled for 2:30am UK time.
