Man Utd’s pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund alternative now sparks elite club’s reactionary ‘plan’ to stop ‘decisive move’

Manchester United could reportedly face a major pushback from one European heavyweight club in the race to sign an alternative striker to Rasmus Hojlund.

Rasmus Hojlund has travelled with the Manchester United squad for the pre-season tour and the 22-year-old Danish forward appears set to remain at Old Trafford.

However, the Denmark and United striker has attracted interest from several clubs in Italy this summer, including Serie A sides Juventus, Inter Milan and Roma.

Hojlund struggled to lead the frontline in the 2024-25 campaign for United and the Inter Milan-linked player netted only 10 times in 52 matches across all competitions.

United have been tipped to sign a new striker in the summer and the Denmark international could still leave before the transfer window shuts in September.

Ruben Amorim was left frustrated in the 2024-25 Premier League season after the struggles of Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee playing as the lone striker in his system.

Man Utd being linked with PSG striker Randal Kolo Muani has now made Juventus respond with a new transfer approach

Manchester United have been linked with Randal Kolo Muani and the 26-year-old French striker is tipped to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the summer window.

Juventus have been the firm favourite to sign the France international, who spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign out on loan at the Old Lady.

Calciomercato has cited a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport that United have ‘been closing in on’ Randal Kolo Muani, despite Juventus’ transfer pursuit of the player.

However, it is believed that the Serie A club now have a ‘plan’ to climb ahead of United in the race to sign the former Eintracht Frankfurt striker from PSG.

The Italian outlet reports that Juventus will attempt to ‘consolidate their now daily contact’ with PSG over Kolo Muani and could scupper the Red Devils’ approach.

Juventus’ transfer position over Randal Kolo Muani amid Man Utd’s interest in the PSG and France attacker

It is believed that PSG want to offload Randal Kolo Muani as part of a permanent deal, including being open to a loan deal with an obligation to buy the player.

However, the Ligue 1 champions want to ensure that the obligation to make Kolo Muani’s move permanent has ‘achievable terms’ amid United and Juventus’ interest.

According to Calciomercato’s report, Juventus’ Damien Comolli has a clear plan to sign the 2022 World Cup finalist before clubs like United can ‘make a decisive move.’

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport has suggested that Damien Comolli will now ‘make another attempt’ with PSG to land Kolo Muani for Juventus this summer.

The publication added that Juventus are ‘working to soften’ PSG’s stance over the France international before United can ‘further tempt’ the transfer of the player.
