'It's the natural way' - Brentford boss explained exactly how he outclassed Ruben Amorim and Man Utd

Ruben Amorim finds himself under pressure after Manchester United were deservedly beaten by Brentford in the Premier League.

Optimistic Manchester United fans headed into Saturday’s clash knowing that a victory over Brentford would have lifted the Red Devils into the top four.

However, a 3-1 defeat to Brentford means that United are 14th after collecting just seven points from the opening six games.

Amorim’s future is in doubt following a poor start to the season, and getting beaten by a Brentford team under new management is not a good look.

Brentford manager explains how he beat Man United

Throughout his tenure as United boss, Amorim has refused to change tactics. His 3-4-2-1 system has been called into question, especially when it comes to the balance in midfield.

Kobbie Mainoo has struggled for minutes despite United’s midfield struggles, and once again he was left out of the starting lineup against Brentford.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the full-time whistle, Brentford boss Keith Andrews explained that winning the midfield battle was the key to victory.

“It’s the natural way you prepare for games,” said Andrews, when asked if he targeted United’s midfield. “You try and create overloads.”

“One of which would be if we have a three-man midfield, they have a two.

“But you could flip it and say ‘if their wide players tuck in, then they have a four’. But I certainly felt how we tried to entice them onto us and try and play around, or through [them], at times, would be on.”

Ruben Amorim’s system is getting exposed

This is certainly not the first time Amorim has been exploited by an opposing manager this season.

Against Fulham, manager Marco Silva overloaded United’s midfield, and he explained that he was well prepared for how Amorim would set up his side.

The predictability to United’s playstyle puts Amorim at a disadvantage before a ball is even kicked.

Amorim wanted more control against Brentford, and urged his players to “play our own game”, but Brentford were prepared for whatever United threw at them. The same cannot be said about United’s preparations.
