Former Manchester United and England shot-stopper Ben Foster has now had his say on what he saw from Senne Lammens’ debut display against Sunderland.
Ruben Amorim finally turned to Senne Lammens and put the 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper in the Manchester United starting XI for the Premier League clash.
Lammens arrived at Old Trafford on deadline day in September and the former Royal Antwerp star had been playing second fiddle to Altay Bayindir at United.
However, Altay Bayindir was dropped for United’s Premier League encounter with Sunderland and Lammens received his first chance between the sticks for his side.
Lammens’ United performance earned him big praise from Red Devils supporters and the former Royal Antwerp player walked away with a clean sheet on Saturday.

What Ben Foster noticed from Senne Lammens during the Man Utd shot-stopper’s debut at Old Trafford against Sunderland
Senne Lammens was only tested a few times over the course of Manchester United’s 2-0 Premier League win over Sunderland at Old Trafford at the weekend.
However, the United summer signing showed much-needed composure when he was called upon and had command of his area during the 90 minutes on Saturday.
Lammens showed his comfort with coming out to collect the ball and it was a much-needed welcome sight for United fans at Old Trafford for the Sunderland match.
Ben Foster insisted that making a United debut is an “important thing” for a shot-stopper and the ex-Royal Antwerp star passed with flying colours in his eyes.
“Brilliant debut,” he said on his ‘Fozcast’ podcast.
“Really, really good debut. I think the debut is such an important thing for a goalkeeper for that club.
“Really, really important. And he handled it with flying colours. He really, really did.”
Senne Lammens is now in pole position to make the Man Utd No 1 shirt his own after a strong debut performance
United paid an initial fee of £18.1m, including agreeing to add-ons, to bring Lammens to Old Trafford from the Belgian Pro League in the summer.
Lammens’ ‘audition’ against Sunderland was a strong start for the Belgian ‘keeper and the United star is tipped to be a long-term prospect at Old Trafford.
United manager Ruben Amorim was left to endure the error-prone tendencies of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir after his arrival from Sporting CP in 2024.
However, the 40-year-old Portuguese coach now has an assured choice for the United No 1 role and Lammens can now firmly cement his place in that position.
