Ederson Castillo to Man Utd, Ineos find out asking price for wonderkid compared to Moises Caicedo

Manchester United are rumoured to be taking an interest in another South American wonderkid.

Ineos‘ recruiting team are considering another swoop for an emerging talent, with Ederson Castillo now on the radar.

According to Futbol Ecuador, Manchester United are attempting to strike a deal for the talented teenage midfielder.

His current club are seeking a fee of around £5 million, and it is claimed that United are ‘not scared off’ by the asking price.

Over the past year, United have signed Paraguayan talent Diego Leon and Colombian whizkid Cristian Orozco.

Ederson Castillo, what you need to know

Ederson Castillo could not sign for Manchester United officially until the January 2027 transfer window, due to his age. But a deal could be struck in advance.

Castillo made his first team debut for LDU Quito when he was just 15, and played in the Copa Libertadores at 16.

Despite these impressive milestones, Castillo has been used sparingly, he has only six first team appearances for his club to date.

He is an Ecuador under-17 international, and has also been linked with moves to Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid.

Back in the summer he showcased his talent on trial at Anderlecht in Belgium as part of an agreement between the clubs.

Castillo has been compared to fellow Ecuador talent Moises Caicedo, who left Independiente del Valle to join Brighton in 2021. He subsequently earned a £100 million move to Chelsea.

Manchester United had been interested at the time, but did not close the deal. Making a move for Castillo could help make up for this missed opportunity.

United were first linked to Castillo at the start of December 2025, and with interest still remaining, it looks like the club are serious about a potential move.
