Diogo Dalot was shocked by what newly appointed Man Utd coach did on day one, 'Casemiro was like...'

Jonathan Woodgate’s appointment to Michael Carrick’s staff raised some eyebrows, but Manchester United’s players have spoken glowingly about him, with Diogo Dalot the latest.

Michael Carrick has said his coaching staff is balanced, with Jonathan Woodgate being a really important aspect of this in terms of improving the defence.

Despite his Leeds allegiances, Woodgate has celebrated Manchester United goals like a fan, which says a lot about how seriously he takes his job.

Now, Diogo Dalot has spoken about the coach, admitting that he shocked Casemiro with one quality.

Diogo Dalot praises Jonathan Woodgate for Manchester United coaching

For those that don’t know, Woodgate played for Real Madrid between 2004 and 2008, although it was a bit of a disaster.

But he picked up the language, and that ability has shocked Casemiro, according to Dalot.

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel, Woodgate was raised in conversation, as Ferdinand explained playing with him, to which Dalot had an interesting story.

“Jon, really? He went to Madrid, no? We’ve talked to him a little bit because as soon as he came, he started speaking Spanish. And Casemiro was like, ‘Spanish?'”

“He can be very serious, and then at certain times he can be very funny also.”

Dalot then went on to praise Woodgate’s ability as a coach.

“To be honest, the first week he already had really good insights for us in the backline, he’s trying to put us in the right positions. He gave really good feedback, it was a nice surprise.”

Dalot is not the only player to individually praise this appointment, as Woodgate was also hailed by Harry Maguire for his knowledge in defensive situations.

Roy Keane continues to look ridiculous for slamming Michael Carrick’s staff

When Carrick’s coaching staff was announced, Roy Keane wasn’t shy about his annoyance at who was involved, particularly Jonny Evans and Woodgate.

However, ever since then, Woodgate and co have proven Keane wrong, time and time again, with very little emerging so far in terms of negatives.

Keane’s complaining just looks like jealousy, as the players are clearly happy with who is coaching them, and Woodgate is absolutely qualified.

If Carrick is made permanent this summer, which looks increasingly likely, then United must also keep the coaching staff, potentially just adding not subtracting to the ranks.
