How Amad Diallo fared in Ivory Coast’s 2-1 win over Germany

Amad Diallo has played in Ivory Coast’s defeat against Germany at the World Cup.

After Amad Diallo’s match-winner against Ecuador last week, it came as no surprise that the Manchester United forward started the game on Saturday night.

The 2-1 defeat against Germany means the Ivory Coast have three points from two matches, marking an average start to the 2026 World Cup campaign.

Quiet evening for Amad Diallo on the wing

The United winger played 75 minutes against Germany.

For the most part, it was a quiet evening for Amad, but while still trying to create opportunities for his teammates, they often fell to players flat-footed or not on the same wavelength as the United man.

Amad played on the right wing, but struggled to have the impact he would have wanted on the game.

Although the Ivory Coast led the scoring at half time, the Germans equalised in the second half and the match ended 1-1.

Amad touched the ball 35 times in the 75 minutes he spent on the pitch. He completed his display with a 94% pass success rate and created two chances.

Four of Amad’s touches came in the German box.

Ivory Coast on the verge of historic World Cup campaign

Although the Ivory Coast was the home of some of the best players of yesteryear, including Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure, they’ve never progressed past the group stage at a World Cup.

That means Amad and his teammates have their work cut out to qualify for the knockouts.

Ivory Coast will be expected to add three points to their tally against Curacao.
