Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir emerges as a target for one of the leading Turkish Super Lig clubs.
The 2025/26 season started unexpectedly for Altay Bayindir because he was named as the first choice ahead of Andre Onana.
Bayindir’s performances raised eyebrows for all the wrong reasons before United signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp in a successful deadline day deal.
The Turkey international has thus far made six appearances for United this season, in which he failed to keep a single clean sheet and conceded a total of 11 goals.
Since United’s 2-0 win over Sunderland in the Premier League, the first clean sheet managed by the Reds this season, Lammens has been the first choice. That won’t be changing any time soon.
Lammens has impressed between the sticks, meaning the £18.2m investment looks worthwhile especially given he’s 23-years-old.
With no European fixtures or cup matches to play, United have 14 games left this season. That means it’s highly likely that Bayindir won’t feature again unless Lammens gets suspended or injured.

Besiktas eye move for Altay Bayindir
While the transfer window has shut for English clubs, that is not yet the case in Turkey.
Bayindir, being an established Turkey international, was likely to attract interest given he is the second-choice at United.
That Turk has never expressed regret at signing for United, where he arrived knowing the role was secondary to Onana, but the prospect of regular football could now be more appealing after experiencing life at a top club.
According to talkSPORT, Besiktas are interested in signing Bayindir or Leeds stopper Illan Meslier.
Meslier has fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road and has yet to make a single appearance this season.
However, the report adds that Meslier is reluctant to join Besiktas.
Bayindir left Turkish side Fenerbahce to sign for United three years ago. It remains to be seen if Ineos are willing to part ways with him now if they will wait until the summer.
A potential exit for Bayindir would lead to Tom Heaton becoming second choice keeper.
When does the transfer window shut for Turkish clubs?
The deadline for Turkish clubs is tomorrow, February 6.
United are not expecting any players to leave, and it would take something drastic for that to change.
Besiktas may have interest in Bayindir, but they have yet to make an official offer.
Meanwhile, MLS clubs can buy players until March 26
