Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens has made a big impression since joining the club in September 2025.
Ineos had a fantastic summer in the transfer market, appearing to land four top class players from four attempts.
But there was one black mark against them – why didn’t they sign Senne Lammens earlier?
Lammens was signed from Royal Antwerp on deadline day, and did not make his Manchester United debut until October.
By this point United had already lost three Premier League games, and been knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
The Red Devils have only lost two matches since Lammens was introduced into the team.
Senne Lammens among the best
Playing in goal for Manchester United is not easy. There is outside pressure and a big spotlight, and we have seen players crumble.
Senne Lammens has had an exceptional impact, making it look quite easy.
Lammens’ performances have now led to him being ranked among the best 10 goalkeepers in world football, according to a new list produced by Sports Illustrated.
SI’s ranking was updated this past week, and has Senne Lammens listed at number eight – ahead of the player Manchester United almost signed instead, Emiliano Martinez.

Lammens ranking vindicates Ineos
Senne Lammens was largely unheard of outside of Belgium prior to his move to Manchester United.
United’s decision to move for Lammens has worked out well, and his ranking inside the top 10 in this list backs up his impressive performances.
Lammens made his debut at international level for Belgium earlier this season too, and he is likely to go to the World Cup.
The problem for him is that the goalkeeper in his path to the first team is the number one ranked stopper on the list, Thibaut Courtois.
