Ayden Heaven’s role in the pre-season summer tour has been mirrored by only two other first-team Manchester United players under Red Devils boss Michael Carrick.
The 19-year-old Manchester United defender has been able to secure valuable first-team minutes this summer ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season.
Ayden Heaven has played four times for the Red Devils in pre-season and has been a key defensive pick for Michael Carrick amid the 2026 summer tour.
The former Arsenal talent has been in the starting XI against Wrexham, Rosenborg, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain ahead of United’s remaining two matches.

Ayden Heaven’s four Man Utd pre-season starts have only been matched by Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire
Ayden Heaven completed the full 90 minutes of Manchester United’s opening three pre-season fixtures before playing 78 minutes against Paris Saint-Germain.
Harry Maguire has been alongside the Man Utd talent in the starting XI on all four occasions, with Michael Carrick leaning on the duo as his main centre-back pairing.
Heaven has racked up a possible 348 minutes out of a possible 360 minutes and has helped the Red Devils keep one clean sheet from their first four matches.
Harry Maguire and Bryan Mbeumo are the only two players to have matched Heaven by starting and playing in all four pre-season friendly fixtures under Carrick so far.
Heaven has been sporadically featuring in the Man Utd first team since he left Premier League side Arsenal and arrived at Old Trafford in 2025.
In the development of his career at the Premier League club, United manager Carrick is giving Heaven the opportunity to build much-needed momentum ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Ayden Heaven’s 2026 Man Utd pre-season stats have already bettered his 2025 summer tour stats
Heaven did feature in all five of the Red Devils’ pre-season tour matches last summer, as Ruben Amorim heavily rotated his Man Utd squad at that time.
However, the United centre-back only managed to play 236 minutes on the pre-season tour in 2025, which he has already eclipsed in 2026 under Carrick.
Heaven’s appearances and minutes on the Man Utd pre-season campaign in 2025:
- Rosenborg (1-0 loss) — 45 minutes
- Rangers (2-0 win) — 45 minutes
- Arsenal (2-1 loss) — 45 minutes
- Real Betis (3-2 win) — 28 minutes
- Liverpool (3-0 loss) — 73 minutes
Heaven did not play a full 90 minutes in the previous summer tour, but the Red Devils talent did that in his first matches of the 2026 pre-season campaign.
To match Harry Maguire and Bryan Mbeumo in being the only other Man Utd player to have started in all four pre-season summer matches is some feat for Heaven.
