How much each of Rio Ferdinand’s four World Cup ‘dream’ signings would cost Man Utd if approach was made

Rio Ferdinand has now admitted that he would love to see four standout names from this summer’s World Cup at Manchester United in a dream scenario.

The World Cup was held in North America across June and July and Euro 2024 champions Spain came out on top after beating Argentina in the final.

Argentina failed in their title defence of the World Cup after Ferran Torres scored the winner for Spain in extra time at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Rio Ferdinand picked out key names from the World Cup and United In Focus has now looked at how much each player would cost Manchester United in a transfer.

1. Lamine Yamal (Spain and Barcelona) — £188m (€220m)

“There’s loads, isn’t there? There’s people like Lamine Yamal, who’s an obvious one,” Rio Ferdinand told Manchester United’s official YouTube channel.

Lamine Yamal walked away from the World Cup with a winner’s medal and played a key role in the tournament run for Spain in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The 19-year-old Spanish winger would be valued at around a hefty £188m (€220m), but his current release clause at Barcelona is an eye-watering £840m (€1bn).

2. Yan Diomande (Ivory Coast and Real Madrid) — £77m to £103m (€90m to €120m)

“Diomande, who went to Real Madrid in the end for I think 140million Euros, which is crazy money, but great talent,” Ferdinand explained.

Yan Diomande left RB Leipzig in the summer and the 19-year-old Ivorian winger arrived at Real Madrid in a mammoth deal worth around £120m (€140m).

The Ivory Coast international has been valued between £77m and £103m, but his price is worth even more now after the money Real Madrid paid for him this summer.

3. Michael Olise (France and Bayern Munich) — £145m (€170m)

“Listen, I could go on and on. Olise [as well],” Ferdinand added.

Manchester United had been linked with Michael Olise while he was at Crystal Palace before Bayern Munich signed the 24-year-old winger for about £50m.

The France international’s transfer value has no doubt increased and Michael Olise could now carry a price tag of around £145m after his career development.

4. Kylian Mbappe (France and Real Madrid) — £171m (€200m)

“There’s loads of players that you look at and go, ‘I’d love to have them at Man United,’” Ferdinand continued.

“Mbappe. You know what I mean?”

Kylian Mbappe is the prized asset of Real Madrid after Los Blancos signed the 2018 World Cup winner following his exit from Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.

Just like Barcelona and Spain ace Lamine Yamal, Mbappe carries a huge £840m (€1bn) release clause at Madrid amid his current valuation being around £171m.
