Man Utd’s overall Premier League record for first match of every season since Sir Alex Ferguson retired

Manchester United’s opening Premier League match of each campaign after Sir Alex Ferguson bowed out of Old Trafford is a real eye-opener for Red Devils supporters.

The Red Devils will enter their 14th Premier League season now since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down as Manchester United manager back in 2013.

Michael Carrick closed out the 13th Premier League campaign in the post-Ferguson era after Ruben Amorim was sacked by the Red Devils back in January.

The 45-year-old United legend has become the seventh permanent Red Devils head coach after Ferguson’s retirement at the end of the 2012-13 Premier League season.

Man Utd hold an impressive record for their 13 Premier League openers since Sir Alex Ferguson bowed out in 2013

Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season as Manchester United manager ended with the Red Devils becoming Premier League champions for the last time under his reign.

Michael Carrick was part of United’s last Premier League title-winning side ahead of leading the Red Devils into their 2026-27 opener against Hull City on Saturday.

United hold a 62.9 per cent winning record from their Premier League openers since Ferguson’s Old Trafford exit after coming out on top in nine of their 13 matches.

The Red Devils have not drawn any of their first matches in the Premier League season since the 2012-13 campaign, while United have only lost on four occasions.

United’s home record in the last 13 Premier League openers is seven wins and four defeats, while the Red Devils have won two of their matches away.

The Red Devils have kept four clean sheets and United have netted 27 times and conceded 14 times in the first match of every Premier League season since 2013.

Carrick’s men will visit the MKM Stadium this weekend and United’s clash with newly promoted Premier League side Hull City is slated for a 12:30pm UK kick-off time.
