Manchester United fans are planning a protest ahead of Sunday’s derby at Old Trafford.
The 1958 has urged fans to join a protest against Manchester United chiefs after an attempted crackdown on ticket touting, with innocent season ticket holders caught in the crossfire.
United host Man City in the first Manchester derby of the season on Sunday at 4.30pm, but matchgoing fans have been invited to participate in a peaceful protest at 3pm from The Bishop Blaize pub.
However, fans of rival clubs face similar issues with executives who lack a basic understanding of fan culture, creating a shared sense of sympathy.

The peaceful protest at Old Trafford on Sunday is a fight for fan welfare, with the concerns expressed by The 1958 sounding similar to issues that exist at other Premier League clubs.
That is why Man City supporter group, The Citizens Trust, claims that 99% of their members said they want to show solidarity with other fanbases experiencing issues with their clubs.
With that, The Citizens Trust announced they are fully behind The 1958 and all other United supporter groups with all of the actions they take.
It comes with a warning for City fans that they could be next.
The Citizens Trust took to X with the following statement: “In our first member survey, 99% said they want us to show solidarity with other fanbases experiencing issues with their clubs.
“So we are 100% behind @The__1958 and all MUFC supporter groups in any and all actions they take. This could be us next.”
While Liverpool are another Premier League club that carried out a similar investigation to United to tackle touting, using third-party AI software to try to identify those responsible, and that too faced backlash.
United, Arsenal, and Newcastle all increased ticket prices for the 2026/27 campaign, while City froze their prices for a third consecutive year.
The difference with City and ticket prices is that they haven’t faced the same demand as United, but their reason for not increasing the prices is “in recognition of the extraordinary accumulated impact of the current cost of living pressures on fans and their families.”

Man Utd’s aggressive communications
This week, the club sent text messages to season ticket holders demanding they pay to attend United’s first Champions League match of the season against Sabah.
Failure to do so, for season ticket holders who opted in for cup competitions, means they run the risk of losing a seat for a forthcoming Premier League match.
The following text message reads with an aggressive tone: “You don’t have a ticket for the Sabah game on Thursday – please do not come to Old Trafford.
“Tickets are still available to purchase here. If you don’t purchase a ticket, your ST will be deactivated for a future PL game, and it may impact your away eligibility.”
