Cristiano Ronaldo’s Man Utd rant is exposed for what it truly was after Portugal statement

Cristiano Ronaldo has dominated this international break for all the wrong reasons, and his Man Utd rant needs to be reassessed following these events.

What has happened so far is well-known at this point, as a single snub under Jorge Jesus sent Cristiano Ronaldo into meltdown, leaving the Portugal national team midway through the break.

Bruno Fernandes has flourished in his absence, while Jorge Jesus has made no effort to hide that he is not at fault for any of this.

However, after Ronaldo’s latest public statement, it’s clear what his intentions truly are, and it necessitates a reassessment of what his Man Utd rant was about.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Man Utd rant had hidden meaning

For Man Utd fans, Ronaldo’s recent statement will provide a feeling of deja vu, as he did the same, only in video format, when Erik ten Hag refused to bring him on as a sub at Old Trafford.

He called out Ten Hag, said that the standards at United had fallen, that he wanted the best for the club, and it hurt him to see that professionalism at Carrington had disappeared.

Of course, due to Ronaldo’s history at United, combined with his words about fallen standards actually being true, many fans looked at him as the martyr who sacrificed himself to tell the truth.

Now that the same playbook is playing out for his national team, where his own presence is responsible for the standards falling, it’s becoming quite clear what Ronaldo’s rant at United was really about.

He was simply feeding into the frenzied “Anti-Glazer” sentiment at the club to mobilise into a “Pro-Ronaldo” feeling, because Cristiano Ronaldo is the only person Cristiano Ronaldo cares about.

There was none of this talk when he signed for the club. It’s hard to believe he didn’t do his homework about the culture of the club and the facilities when he signed.

Why did it become a problem only when a manager developed a backbone and dared to snub him? Yes, the problems at United are largely down to the Glazers and a lack of ambition, but Ronaldo had no problem becoming the face of that project as long as he was at the forefront of it.

The moment he was snubbed, he started talking about fallen standards, disrespect, and care about the club.

That rant still held some value since what he said was true, regardless of his actual motivation behind saying those things.

After doing the same thing for his national team and destabilising the atmosphere to make it all about himself, there can be no doubt.

Ronaldo doesn’t care about anyone but himself. There are no fallen standards as long as he feels catered to. The moment he isn’t, everything is wrong with the team he plays for, even if it is for his country.
