Radio pundit Simon Jordan has blasted Michael Carrick and Manchester United’s board.
Manchester United boss Michael Carrick is under pressure after a poor run of results, with only six points gained from six Premier League matches.
Ahead of the game against Atletico Madrid, radio pundit Simon Jordan has given his views on Manchester United’s managerial situation.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, Jordan blasted: “I think that he looks like a man out of his depth.”
United’s lack of energy and tactical naivety has been exposed in the opening games of the season, with the team also eliminated from the Carabao Cup.
Jordan also pointed to Carrick’s previous managerial spell at Middlesbrough, asking: “When did it become that a man that can’t get a team promoted for the championship is managing Manchester United?”
Speculation has already begun about a possible replacement, with the Italian media suggesting Antonio Conte could be approached to take over.
Jordan says United board would be shocked by Conte
Michael Carrick is not the only man under pressure. Ineos decision-makers Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada also have a high disapproval rating among fans.
Antonio Conte has a previous reputation for clashing with his higher-ups, and Simon Jordan believes he would not stand for any poor dealings from Ineos in the transfer market.
He said: “Conte won’t muck about. Perhaps the United board deserves someone like Conte, because Conte will go in there and he’ll out them and he’ll do whatever he does.
“And I might like some of it, and I think he’ll be self-serving, some of it. But he won’t muck about, and you can’t argue with the fact that Conte wins things. However, he wins them, he wins things.”
Conte has been out of work since leaving Napoli at the end of last season. He led them to win the Serie A title in 2024/25, but left after a second place finish in 2025/26.
He has previously won the Premier League title with Chelsea, and also had a stint at Tottenham Hotspur.
